Metadata on IPv6 KVM Server

Recommended Posts

Hey there!

Have running Emby nicely so far on my KVM Server (pure IPv6). All good, only one issue:

When i add new media, i get no metadata. I can tap sync manually and also manually sync metadada, no luck.

When i go into the overview (where we play the media), i can select identify and type in the name, and it finds all the metadata.

The files i added to test are okay, also its filenames, as i tested it locally on my truenas, and there it sync automatically all metadata.

So i think it could be a problem with only having IPv6 in the KVM Server, what i can`t change.

I add a log.

HI, yes if you notice all of these errors in the server log:

2023-10-13 06:15:22.523 Error ProviderManager: TvdbSeasonImageProvider failed in GetImageInfos for type Season
	*** Error Report ***

You've got something preventing the server's connection to the metadata providers.

Okay, i now nuked the IPv6 Server and switched over to a nomal IPv4 one. So this should be no more a problem...

But again i don`t get many of the metadata when i scan library or search for metadata. When i go into the overview (where we play the media), i can select identify and type in the name, and it finds all the metadata.

Again i add another log. Ping when something else needed.

Sadly you can't run Emby IPv6-only if you want everything to "just work", not because of the Emby devs (they've done a good job with it), it's third parties who use IPv4-only API endpoints for things like downloading art and subtitles.

Yeah, seems so.

Emby Devs are doing a really great job! Also the service here is superb!

I switched over to a IPv4 server now, as stated. But sadly many files don`t get metadata, and i have no idea why, or where to find...

i used cloudflared on mine and it made all this work with no issue, and works surprisingly good

Your filefolder structue is wrong.

Quote
2023-10-15 11:21:25.997 Info LibraryMonitor: Watching directory /emby/kids

You have multiple instances (1000+) in your log of providers returning no metadata due to erroneous structure, examples:

Quote
2023-10-15 11:23:02.210 Debug App: TvdbSeriesProvider returned no metadata for /emby/kids/PAW.Patrol.S09E01.GERMAN.DL.1080P.WEB.H264-iND
2023-10-15 11:23:03.425 Debug App: MovieDbSeriesProvider returned no metadata for /emby/kids/PAW.Patrol.S09E01.GERMAN.DL.1080P.WEB.H264-iND

You can't have only episode files (let alone from different shows) under your TV shows root, i.e.

Quote
/emby/kids/Boss.Baby.Zurueck.zu.den.Windeln.S01E01.GERMAN.DL.1080P.WEB.X264-WAYNE
/emby/kids/PAW.Patrol.S09E01.GERMAN.DL.1080P.WEB.H264-iND

Each TV show needs to have its own folder, at minimum - season folders underneath are not mandatory but recommended. Restructure your library accordingly, i.e.

Quote

emby/kids/PAW Patrol (2013)/Season 9/PAW.Patrol.S09E01.GERMAN.DL.1080P.WEB.H264-iND

or

emby/kids/PAW Patrol (2013)/PAW.Patrol.S09E01.GERMAN.DL.1080P.WEB.H264-iND

etc.
