MB Connects local but not through network

Hello again...So I decided as I described to you in another post to run 2 distinct MB boxes both of which are their own local servers. MB1 has all the media locally on a shared drive named \\Office2022\MB Movies (see pic). The user such as myself has full control. On MB2 it too is a standalone server but no local media attached to it aka nothing. I want it to pull the media files from MB1 from the shared drive but I cannot come up with the correct path to make the connection. When I enter \\Office2022\MB Movies in a web browser from MB2 box I can get to the media files.image.png.dc175a3ea4d99e5bafed9f4cc22b0b34.png

When I enter that path in Optional Shared Network Folder I get an error Stating invalid path and path cannot be found bla...I have also tried mapping the shared drive but no joy there. I know I have done this in the past but my brain is fried so any assistance will be appreciated. Cheers!!!

Try to enter the path in the MB2 'search' box on windows - ie

\\Office2022\MB Movies

If the shares show up - then there is no reason why emby should not be able to see them - assuming emby is not running as a service.    If it is, then you need to grant the emby service the rights to use the remote share.

If that still fails - then try and use the Office2022 IP address instead as part of the URL

ie

\\a.b.c.d\MB Movies

Where a.b.c.d is the IP address.

If that then works, then Emby is having trouble resolving the NetBIOS name of the other server for some reason.

I got this to work!! Here was the issue that apparently prevented MB2 as a standalone server to run as it should. The setups in both MB1 and MB2 are exactly the same except that MB1 has all the media attached to it via SSD's plus Live TV. MB2 only has Live TV. When I edit the m3u file it is done on MB1 and then I copy it over to MB2. Channel mapping is done on both boxes because this way I am assured that they are the same. Obviously I keep a log pertaining to my mappings.

Now for the movie medias which was the problem I was having. Everything runs as it should on MB1 but on MB2 I was having a hard time getting MB2 to connect to the SSD's on MB1 which is where my media is located. I remembered long ago (see previous topic 2 years ago I think) that I was having the same problem with getting any movies to play on Emby. The answer was the VPN. For whatever reason the PIA VPN had to be set to an area outside the U.S. When I switched it to Canada no joy. When I switched to another country except U.S. or Canada, it worked! So now on MB1 and 2 the VPN was set to the same location. MB1 worked but MB2 would not. Once I switched MB2 to another location other than the one MB1 is set on it worked!! So now I have 2 MB boxes independent of each other except for the movie files.

Just reporting a result in case anyone else use Private IA as their VPN. Thanks to all and Cheers!!!

In lieu of starting a new topic I will just add it to this one. Probably should've used one of my other topic like Live TV Acting Weird but here goes anyway. In the attached pics, JA1 is what I get on my MB1 server and MB2 shows what I get on my other TV in another room. The difference in the screens is that MB1 is a 25" TV and MB2 is a 65" set. On the "just added" screens MB1 is what I would like to have MB2 look like. In order to see the entire JA section I scroll vertically on MB1. Whereas in order to see the entire JA section on MB2 I have to scroll horizontally which is a pain when dealing with a larger collection. Is there some control feature that would allow me to resize the area on MB2 such that it would add additional space to allow for more rows of content? The second issue is that if you also notice on MB1 it indicates 48 items whereas on MB2 it indicates 48 seasons. How does that happen? AFAIK I do not have "seasons". How did that get populated? Is there some switch or did I activate something in error during MB2 setup? TIA and cheers!!!ja2.thumb.png.3b3adbbd1f7c4ffbe7bc387ece5e1a86.pngJA1.thumb.png.8a44f21f19dc4073473752ae18918713.png

Your Just Added folder has been identified as a single TV show. It's not about different views - some item in that folder literally broke parser. Step 1 would be solving that - and then you'll have same display as in MB1.

Thanks for giving me a direction. It turned to be an NFO file that was in the wrong place so I deleted it and now all is good. Cheers!!!
