tOLJY 49 Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 So I use the smart subs option, works great. However, for some reason, some embedded subs in a show are marked as forced even though theyre actually closed captions... ugh. I've looked into the API endpoint Items a little and thought I could update the defaultsubtitleindex to -1 with no luck. Is there a way I can change subtitle selection via the API per item? Turning off all subs is not an option, this is just one show that has an issue.

Change the source files to remove the forced flag - emby will assume that is correct but will never modify the source itself. If using mkv - then use mkvtoolnix, and select the header option - remove the forced flag on the subtitle track in question and hit save - it will take a fraction of a second as it does not need to remux the file.
