not transcoding over wan

I just set up a reverse proxy through nginx proxy manager. I see that people who are trying to connecting are using the lan IP and not the wan. what do I need to change to get the wan IP to be used so it can reconize them as out of network and trancode?

Are they using Emby Connect? 

Check that the correct external address is shown on the dashboard.

i am using the emby app. my external domain matches what my reverse proxy says. as well as my google domain dns . i opened port 443 on my router tcp. i cant seem to get emby to use the external. it a fs like its forwarding the lan ip. only thing i can think what xouos be qrong sinthe forwading ip in nginx. what shoudo that be? my computers ip, the router external ip, or soemthing else? ive tried the external router ip and  computer ip and atill get the same result of it acting like its connecting wan

so after reaing that it seems like my external domain is wrong. should it be mydomain.com/subdomainnamehere ?

It is better to use subdomain.domain.com.  Accessing a folder name through a proxy can be problematic.

okay thats what ive been doing before trying to set up this proxy. mine is x.mydomain.com @pwhodges

 

from my testing ive been doing with the reverse proxy. it seems like emby is using my computers ip instead of the routers external ip. ive tried setting my wxternal ip to both my google domain as well as my reverse proxy and it wont load like that. is there a way to set the external ip manually in emby? or am i missing a step? ive watxhed dome vidoes om nginx proxy manager amd ive set ip my proxy host as x.mydomain forwarding my external ip with https as well as port 8920 and it wont pass emby through. i must be missing something. i have portainer set up and it works so i know i can acess my proxy outside my home network. i wonder if i have to change the ip nginx is using to ky external ip of my router?
