Can't Log-in to Emby Server

I can't log in to the Emby Server on my Synology NAS. Has worked fine for couple years. Now get "Invalid username/password". Tried password reset but have no idea how to find the "var" file. Any help would be greatly appreciated- I am clueless about computers.

I have looked at the instructions. To be honest, I do not understand them, and I am worried I will mess things up even more trying to follow the instructions.

You need to SSH into your Synology.

Thank you GrimReaper. That is the same place Luke directed me to. I really do not understand it, and am uncomfortable delving that deep on my own.

You may not feel comfortable doing it, as no one does at first, but you really have no choice but to learn SSH and how to use the basic command line.

Your alternative is to forget NAS boxes which run linux under the covers and run a Windows OS on something that fits the bill.

Thank you for the assistance. I did not have time to try the SSH this weekend. But, I did try logging in again to the server and for some reason it worked

Hello

I need help! using emby for the first time, installed on my nas DS920+, version 4.8.8.0 and it's asking me to login to my nas after finished install and open it, I have tried all sorts of accounts, go to permission and grant access and still no joy, can someone please help, I have tried forgot password but no reply from anywhere??

What userid/login details is it asking for?

You need to use the credentials you setup Emby server with during the install process.

From you screenshot, you did not input username.

Didn't ask for one when installing it, double click the package and said downloading then installing

I think I'm able to login now, after using WinSCP, navigate to the directory on forgot password message and all good

Hi.  Looks like you are in a Live TV library there.

Click the "cog" icon very top right.

Actually, the reset password gave me 4 different account name, the current logged on account is read only, I changed user and got full access, now I've been able to change the password, create new user and add my local network nas folder as media folder.. Thanks so very much

Do I need Media server application installed on my Synology NAS to get emby working, does emby depend on this app (media server) to function?. Can emby run independently off this app in synology

Hi sorry to bother you again everyone, I'm so new to this. I can't seems to get the pictures/photos display/sync at all, I created new library using the 2 options in the screenshot attached - Mixed contents and Home videos & Photos, after scanning, the folders for the images/photos were all present but no photos/pictures all folders empty excepts videos, is there any thing I need to do/missing/ adjust or setup in settings? I have a lots of photos from holidays which I usually see via my TV and need to get this right, everything else seems to be fine including music excepts photos

You need to set permissions to any content areas you will use in Emby Server.

Thanks for reply, I believed I already done all that please see the screenshot attached, I'm rebuilding everything again and will see what happens. The video, music and photos are all in same shared drive/folder, videos and music are ok excepts photos

You do not need Synology media servers installed. It has nothing to do with Emby Server.

Except for camera upload, there is no syncing done to load content on the server. Some clients (with permission) can download content to watch offline and will update watched status on the server. There are also a couple of plugins available such as Trakt that can sync watch status for a user to an external server, but it doesn't sync content.

FYI: The library type: Mixed content is not a "free for all" or use for any content but has special meaning. The mixed content type is for use when content could be either a movie or TV show format. This library type will use both movie and tv show metadata providers when searching for the metadata. You will want to follow our guidelines closely when using this format to keep movies in a 2-level hierarchy and TV Show types in a 3-level hierarchy on disk. You may want to use the Mixed Library type for something like a Documentary Library as an example. Many single or two part documentaries will be found search movie metadata providers while other documentaries even unrelated to each other are part of a series and produced by the same studio and will be treated as a show, so the metadata will be found for these using a different provider that is considered a TV Show series.

OK you have two libraries setup, and you have granted permission to the internal Emby user.
Assuming you have content in the directories of the library folders what do you see when you view the Emby Libraries?

If they are blank the problem is most likely the files themselves. Besides the internal user permissions you may have to change the ownership of the media itself to be owned by user Emby and owned by group Emby.
