SoundLest 1 Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 Hello, I just switched from Plex to Emby, set up my emby server, and emby theater. However there's two things that I couldn't get to work(they probably have the same cause though.) I'm trying Emby Connect from my phone and can't get it to work, even when typing the right host+port address, as shown on my dashboard. Additionally, I also want to connect Yatse to Emby, but it won't detect the server and manually entering the info won't work either. "Allow remote connections to this Emby server" is ticked in the Network section, and I also tried without the firewall. I can connect to my Plex server from my phone, typing the address in the url, and Yatse also detects my Plex server automatically, so I don't really know why that happens. Thanks in advance

Solution pwhodges 2012 Posted October 2, 2023 Solution Posted October 2, 2023 When using your phone, is it on your local network wifi, or are you trying through the phone network? If on your own network, check that your computer's network interface is set to "private" mode, not "public". If using it outside your network, you need to open ports in your firewall and use your router's WAN address. Note that Plex can sometimes do things which Emby can't without proper preparation (which it does by sending your connection through its own servers, which you might consider an invasion of privacy). https://emby.media/support/articles/Remote-Setup.html Paul 1
SoundLest 1 Posted October 2, 2023 Author Posted October 2, 2023 It was on my local wifi, and my network interface was indeed set to public. Changing it to private solved both issues. Thanks a lot! 1
