yahelgr 0 Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 (edited) I have an Emby server on a computer running Ubuntu, and it ran out of storage space. So, I decided to connect an SSD drive to it. Since my laptop has only one USB 3.0 port, I bought a TP-Link adapter that has 3 USB ports and a LAN port (UE330). I connected it to my router and the SSD to the UE330, and everything worked fine, except that after about 25 minutes, no matter what movie I play, the network interface on the laptop just crash, and there's no internet on the laptop. When I open the laptop, I can see that the SSD is still connected, and even when I access Emby through localhost, I can stream the movies. When I connect my SSD drive to the USB 3.0 port and a different internet adapter to the USB 2.0 port, everything works (except that I don't get 1Gbps internet speed due to the USB 2.0 connection). Has anyone encountered this issue with the TP-Link UE330? **When the computer is connected with the adapter, and the SSD is also connected to it, and the adapter is connected to the router, as long as no movie is being played, the internet does not crash at all. However, as soon as something is played, the internet crashes after 25 minutes Edited September 26, 2023 by yahelgr
Luke 42078 Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Hi there, please attach the emby server log from when the problem occurred: How to Report a Problem Thanks.
Luke 42078 Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 OK I don't really know what to say. Is it just too much data being pushed for the usb adapter to handle? Have you seen these? https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/221728 https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/255100 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=200977#c19 That's just from one quick google search and a couple minutes spent looking through results. It appears that if I were to spend more time researching I'd probably find a lot more similar reports.
