jprobins007 24 Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 I had some problems with a particular audiobook/audio drama mp3 file (it would stop playing at 10 minutes every time) which I attributed to a potentially corrupt file. I downloaded a new copy of the file in m4b format. Now, I find that Emby fails to play the m4b file at all. There is no error message; it just fails to play, I am attaching the relevant logs. Any help would be appreciated. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-remux-8f0b82f9-0396-46c5-a8ec-5b6b18e31916_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-a2f23b16-59b0-48f3-867b-4b0c7c44ca76_1.txt
jprobins007 24 Posted September 25, 2023 Author Posted September 25, 2023 Let me try and report back. 1
jprobins007 24 Posted September 26, 2023 Author Posted September 26, 2023 Interestingly, the same m4b files that would not play at all on Win and Samsung TV do play on Chrome, although ff/rew and resume are disabled.

Is it direct playing? Can you provide a copy of the m4b for testing?
jprobins007 24 Posted September 26, 2023 Author Posted September 26, 2023 Am not sure how to determine whether it is direct play.
Luke 42079 Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Thanks. I had no problem both playing and seeking in both Firefox and Chrome. I tested with the 4.8 beta channel, so that's a good sign of improvement for the upcoming 4.8 server release. Can you try our hosted web app, http://app.emby.media That's a good way to test some of the changes while staying on 4.7. Regarding Emby for Samsung, can you try our USB install so that you can test a newer version? https://emby.media/download
jprobins007 24 Posted September 26, 2023 Author Posted September 26, 2023 Wonderful. I will try out both
jprobins007 24 Posted September 27, 2023 Author Posted September 27, 2023 When should we reasonably expect the 4.8 release
Luke 42079 Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Hi, there's no ETA but we're working very hard on it.
jprobins007 24 Posted September 28, 2023 Author Posted September 28, 2023 I upgraded the Samung TV app to 1.6.4. Despite several improvements I did notice, it still refused to play the M4B files.
jprobins007 24 Posted September 28, 2023 Author Posted September 28, 2023 I cannot seem to get the hosted web app to connect to my server. I get a Connection Failure notice every time.

jprobins007 24 Posted September 29, 2023 Author Posted September 29, 2023 I click play, the circle goes round and round for a while, then I get a message that says no compatible streams were found.

If you're trying to enter an http server address (not https), then make sure to be on http://app.emby.media, not https://app.emby.media because the browser won't allow it.
jprobins007 24 Posted September 29, 2023 Author Posted September 29, 2023 I get connection failure either way.
Luke 42079 Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 OK please attach the emby server log from when you tried to play on Samsung. I don't see that in the logs you provided in the first post. Thanks.
jprobins007 24 Posted September 29, 2023 Author Posted September 29, 2023 Based on the timestamp, it must be on this log. I just went and replicated the problem to make sure I could pinpoint the log time. 09=29=23 embyserver.txt
Luke 42079 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 OK we need to make the file transcode and not try to direct play it, so that is resolved in the next update to the Emby Samsung app. Thanks.
