mike3821 67 Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Where we at with the Emby client for android tv? still no good way to discover shows.
Luke 42077 Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Hi there, can you please describe your issue in more detail? Thanks.

justinrh 259 Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Right, like maybe a screenshot of Channels would be helpful. Maybe he means https://getchannels.com/a/images/tv-shots/library.png or https://getchannels.com/on-later/ Who knows.
Luke 42077 Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Have you tried the Suggestions tab in our Live TV? It lists upcoming Shows, Movies, Sports, Kids and News.

Luke 42077 Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Just now, mike3821 said: Where? Did you try scrolling down to explore the sections underneath?
mike3821 67 Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 5 minutes ago, Luke said: Did you try scrolling down to explore the sections underneath? Yes, but this doesn’t have sections that indicate things such as my examples above. New shows this week, new seasons… No easy way to see a category of these sections.

What categories would you like to see?

What categories would you like to see? So from the app on the phone, or the web interface on the computer, I can build out filters to help see what's new, by filtering it out with "New" and "Ratings". However, can we get more functionality within the Android TV app to filter within Live TV / Programs or build two new categories that do the filters for us? This would greatly improve the experience for the end user in terms of discovering new content, new seasons, etc. Edited September 23, 2023 by mike3821
ebr 16169 Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Hi. Can you try sideloading our standard android app on the same device and see how that compares? https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks.

Yes it has those features since it looks like this is meant for a phone not a tv. i noticed the following issues. - scrolling the live tv guide it goes all over the place from far right to left. - channel up/down is backwards on the live tv guide - channel buttons don’t work anymore? 1

Will the speed of the new app be on par with the Android TV version? As of now it’s just way to slow to transition between menus. It’s driving me mad. To slow on my GTV and TiVo stream 4K.
Luke 42077 Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Hi, we are working on improving it. Thanks.
mike3821 67 Posted November 18, 2024 Author Posted November 18, 2024 Still seems to be lagging in terms of speed and appears buggy in Live TV still. Close Captions on live tv do not work correctly which I have noted multiple times in other threads. Frustrating.. 1 1
monkeyfella 14 Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 (edited) The regular android app is not good compared to the android tv version. Its behaviour is also weird because it doesn’t feel like an app meant to be used with a remote. the epg also doesn’t utilize the space. The channel names take up far too much space compared to the rest Edited November 24, 2024 by monkeyfella 5

Try using it with the nvidia shield.. I want to be greeted with the user selection on app startup, and when I press the back key to exit the app I want the same notification that asks me if I want to exit the app.. now it opens an ugly menu and when I keep pressing the back button it close/hides the app. But if o start it again it opens up at the same place i left it instead of starting up fresh.
