KosmicDaKerbal 0 Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Is there any way to change the bitrate of audio to even lower than 128 kbps? i have set a network bandwidth limit of 0.25 mbps on my emby server, and the 128kbps audio bitrate becomes a bottleneck for the video.

rbjtech 5284 Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 (edited) Yes - for transcoding only, you need to install the Diagnostics Plugin - and apply the following substitution - 64000 is 64K - but take it as low as you need. Note the Stats for Nerds still reports 128K, but ffmpeg is definately using this lower value in the transcoding log. I hope this helps. Note - this is not permenant, you'll need to re-apply after every emby reboot I'm afraid. Edited September 21, 2023 by rbjtech

This likely 'could' be changed - but the bitrates you are using are extreme - for the majority of users, 128Kbit for 2 Channel MP3 is a reasonable value. @softworkz May be able to provide some further insight, but the diagnostic plugin, as the name suggests, is just for diagnostics but will 'work' by manipulating the ffmpeg syntax during a transcode.
