paulsalvate 1 Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 When I do a new install of Emby on synology NAS drive and try to open Emby from package center it opens a new chrome browser window with the message "forbidden". Same problem using edge browser. Both browsers report that the connection is insecure in the URL panel. I tried a manual install by downloading the emby-server-synology72_4.8.0.46_armv8.spk directly from Emby. No luck when I try to put in my server url it can not connect to it.
Luke 42077 Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 HI, what address is in the browser address bar?
paulsalvate 1 Posted September 17, 2023 Author Posted September 17, 2023 This is the url in the forbiden browser window: http://192-168-86-48.psalvatenas.direct.quickconnect.to:8096/web/index.html
paulsalvate 1 Posted September 17, 2023 Author Posted September 17, 2023 This is a screen shot of the package window for Emby in DSM

So just http://ip:8096
paulsalvate 1 Posted September 18, 2023 Author Posted September 18, 2023 I typed: http://ip:8096 The browser says This site can't be reached Chrome warns your connection is not secure

paulsalvate 1 Posted September 19, 2023 Author Posted September 19, 2023 Yes, I tried to connect anyway but that didn't work.
Luke 42077 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 2 hours ago, paulsalvate said: Yes, I tried to connect anyway but that didn't work. @paulsalvate What exactly did you click? What was the label on the button? And then what exactly happened?
paulsalvate 1 Posted September 19, 2023 Author Posted September 19, 2023 I typed :" http://ip:8096" chrome The browser briefly flashed with something about the site being insecure and changed immediately to the following information in the browser window. "This site can’t be reached Check if there is a typo in ip. If spelling is correct, try running Windows Network Diagnostics. DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN"
paulsalvate 1 Posted September 19, 2023 Author Posted September 19, 2023 I just noticed that after I do this the Synology Emby version reports that it has been manually stopped. I had stated it in DSM before doing above and trying to run it from the package center in synology. I don't know if this is significant.
Kachelkaiser 4 Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Did you replaced "ip" with the IP-address of your Synology? example Your Synology has 192.168.1.2 then you have to enter http://192.168.1.2:8096 in the addrssbar of your browser.
paulsalvate 1 Posted September 20, 2023 Author Posted September 20, 2023 I typed: http://ip:8096 The browser says This site can't be reached Chrome warns your connection is not secure
paulsalvate 1 Posted September 20, 2023 Author Posted September 20, 2023 Sorry. When I put in the real ip I get ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT.
paulsalvate 1 Posted September 20, 2023 Author Posted September 20, 2023 When I open a cmd shell in windows 11 and try to ping the router port here is what I get: C:\Users\psalv>ping http://192.168.1.2:8096 Ping request could not find host http://192.168.1.2:8096. Please check the name and try again.

Luke 42077 Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Just now, Luke said: But then there's a button that you can click to proceed anyway. It's labeled "Continue to Site".
paulsalvate 1 Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 I know about the proceed anyway but I don't see that option in chrome anymore. There is a circle with a small i just to left of the url. Clicking that opens a pop-up with the security warning warning, some options to change site settings and maybe passwords in Chrome but no proceed anyway option I can see. I also tried using Edge with the same problems.
Luke 42077 Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 What version of chrome? It's definitely there in 118 for me.
paulsalvate 1 Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 Version 116.0.5845.188 (Official Build) (64-bit)
paulsalvate 1 Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 Version 116.0.5845.188 (Official Build) (64-bit) I just updated to Version 117.0.5938.89 (Official Build) (64-bit)
paulsalvate 1 Posted September 21, 2023 Author Posted September 21, 2023 I am using Chrome: Version 117.0.5938.89 (Official Build) (64-bit) I attach a copy of the browser window showing the inability to connect to Emby via the Emby package installed in my Synology NAS running DSM7. As you can see there is no option to "Proceed anyway".
Luke 42077 Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 What's behind Details if you click that?
Luke 42077 Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Anyway I think that might be different. That's not a question of https it looks more like the browser just can't reach that address. Are you sure that's the right IP address? What if you just enter http://ip:port ?
