Metadata keeps reverting to previous after manual edit

I now have a Library just for audiobooks, choosing audiobooks as the type.  I am still having problem with FF/REW and retaining played position BTW.  I have been going through manually fixing the metadata on the radio plays (a/k/a audio dramas) which make up 99% of the contents of the library.  I go into Edit Metadata on the file, change the name, album, etc. and then save.  The next screen shows the entry with the changes made.  All good. However, I then navigate away from the file, say to edit another file's metadata.  When I go back to the original file, I find that my changes are now gone, and it have reverted to the original metadata. I am also finding that Emby seems to add album and track numbers to each file, even though they are not applicable to the radio plays.  Each episode being one discrete file in most cases.

I am attaching a log which should include an example of this behavior.

Hi, what change exactly is not carried over? Which field exactly? Can you please provide a specific example? Thanks.

The following fields were edited and then reverted:  name, album, disc no, and track no. I have found that they will "stick" as long as I check the lock button at the bottom.

Can you show screenshot examples of before and after?

IN recreating the experience, I find that the reversion only happens after a "Refresh Metadata" is done.  I am uncertain where this metadata is coming from and why the manually input metadata is ignored. The first screenshot is unedited. The second is as edited. The final is after a refresh.

@jprobins007that's the point of refreshing metadata, meaning it pulls in new new from the internet and replaces your existing information.

Manually input  metadata is only preserved if the fields are locked. Were they locked? What fields on what item? Can you please show a specific example? Thanks.
