TOTAL newbie!

Hi all,  I am totally new to EMby, don't have a clue how it works so was wondering if someone could point me to a good how-to on the subject of getting started. I have a gazillion movies I'd like to put in one place so I can actually sit in front of my tv and choose from ALL of my collection. If you could help out here, I'd be forever grateful. Please advise. Thanks.

Also, if you need help to actually put stuff onto your computer in the first place, a lot of people recommend MakeMKV (and its forum).
