Lighthammer 91 Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 I don't know about you guys, but I find it very helpful to know where a particular series was broadcast (by region is even better) AND what network is broadcast (primarily) on. There's been an "technical bug" in Emby since as far back as I can remember, where TV Series only have fields for "Studio", which translates to "Network" on the navigation bar. I mentioned this in a longer post about 18 months ago. Especially with Streaming Networks, it's worth dividing these two things up for both TV Series and Movies. I know this split might cause some havok for some people's libraries, though I think a simple addon that moves "Studios" to ACTUALLY "Studios" for TV Series should be something that's rather easy to code upon release. I suspect moving the fields around in the UI is probably the biggest headache. Could we take a look at this? 2 1
rodainas 191 Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Over time I have noticed that too. Not sure but Maybe this limitation is based on the Kodi nfo standard? because the metadata fields are based on that standard, in that regard there is no tag for network it’s just studio and at the same time other metadata scrapers (for eg. tiny media manager) uses those fields to avoid confusion and/or incompatibility between nfo files and apps.. https://kodi.wiki/view/NFO_files/TV_shows 1
Killface69 96 Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 I also think that a split of the Studio field is appropriate, especially for TV Shows. With Andor for example, Emby gets the following information from tvdb https://thetvdb.com/series/andor Disney+, Lucasfilm, YouTube, Walt Disney Company By itself, the data seems to be fine, while on the website it looks like this: Network Disney+ YouTube Studio Lucasfilm Production Company Walt Disney Company So only Lucasfilm is the actual Studio, while additional information is scraped and re-labeled as Studio. Same goes for movies. TheMovieDb.org unfortunately doesn't use these fields, they file all their entries under "Production Companies". Here's an example from tvdb for Avatar, also with more detailed information https://thetvdb.com/movies/avatar Studio 20th Century Studios Production Company 20th Century Studios Dune Entertainment Ingenious Film Partners Lightstorm Entertainment Adding the Network and the Production Company fields would help a lot, as I have 780 Studios in my TV show section and the overview isn't helping at all. As I'm using tmdb for my movie library, it would also be great to use tvdb additionally for those three fields instead of tmdb. 1 1
