Emoji in album name tag breaks emby's album recognition

Hi,

I recently subscribed to shows with an emoji in the album name mp3 tag.

Emby does not recognize the string as one album (see picture below)

I edited out the emoji out of file names with tagscanner and it works fine. But that will be an issue in the future as I don't really want to edit every single episode that comes out.
The emoji in question is 🔓 (even though I'd wager the issue concerns more than just this one).

Thank you for your hard work.

Hi, never seen that before. Can you zip up that album and send it to me over PM? Thanks.

Hey, I'll ask for permission from the authors and get back to you asap. Thanks for the quick response.

Hi, I looked at your files, and the emoji isn't causing any problem that I can see. The reason they're not getting grouped into a single album is because they do not have an albumartist tag.

Hi, thank you for looking into it.

However I'm sorry but that's not the behavior I am observing on my end. See screens attached (I don't mind the name leak it's fine).

1. emoji in album name, no album artist = no grouping

2. no emoji in album name, no album artist = grouping

3. emoji in album name, album artist ("GCN") = no grouping

Right, there could still be an issue with emojis, I'm just saying that it won't group them either unless there is an album artist. it's the combination of those two things that make the grouping unique.

Well, in example 2 it does group them?

It does, yes, presumably because you have the folder structure option set to perfectly organized into artist/album/track. In this case it will the parent folder name two levels above the tracks as the album artist, so that's why you see albums created with the album artist of Podcasts.

So yes there is an issue with having emojis in the album title. Thanks.

My pleasure.

Do you have any idea on a patch release date ?

Best.

What version of the server did you test with? It might already be resolved in the 4.8 beta channel.

I usually only use stable releases but I can give this one a go.

Gave it (emby-server-synology72_4.8.0.47_x86_64.spk) a go. I can't see any change even after forcing the library to update files.

OK thanks for the update.

Hello,

not to be that guy, but the latest beta (55) doesn't solve the issue still. Any release plan / date ?

Best !

Try refreshing the metadata on the existing content.

Ah indeed, that's my bad, I thought refreshing metadata was only against online metadata provider. I thought only "scan library files" was relevant !

It seems to work well so far, thanks !
