Sorting library

I have an enormous library of movies. Under each actor's name in my hard drives I have the movies sorted  like 1. 2. 3. and so on, so they are in chronological order. Maybe not the best way to have them setup but that's how I do it. My question is this, can I change settings in the library in each folder to have them always open by number instead of opening default as sort by file name?

Hi, no, but shouldn’t they be equivalent anyway?

I was just trying to make it more simple. I didn't know if there was a shortcut

The reason I ask is because if you have them already named so that the system (windows?) file browser will display them in the order that you want, then our sort by files option should show you the same thing. Is that what you're seeing?

I am saying when I first open the app and open a folder the default setting shows at the top sort by file name with an arrow pointing up. All the files are in a random order like 34 19 3 16 and so on. When I click sort by file name with the arrow pointing up button I can change it to number and it goes in the correct order. The first picture is how it looks when I first open the folder and the second is after I change it to number setting

OK just FYI, those items don't a number. What's happening is you select number, and the number sorting has a fallback to sorting by title. These are movies, not episodic content, so they don't get a number in the emby database.

The file name sorting is sorting by file name though, right? It only seems random because the text is the title and not the file name. Is that correct?

Regarding your original question though, having a default sorting for all folder browsing is something that we can look into. So for example you could set this in display setting and then have folder browsing screens default to sorting by Title instead.

Ok sounds good. Thanks for your help.
