dardares 0 Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Hi, I'm using emby server 4.7.14 whit 2 amazon firestick at my home. Both of the firestick didn't show on playing activity on the server dashboard, and when i play contents, for example a tv show, the apps on the firestick didn't mark the episode as read, so i need to do this manually whit emby web (because it will not check if i do on the firestick). If i'm using emby on remote connexion, outside of my home, on firestick, both of this problem not occur. Anyone have idea of what it could be? Thank you
Luke 42078 Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Hi there, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks.
dardares 0 Posted September 10, 2023 Author Posted September 10, 2023 Hi, Just send the log from the firestick app, 2023-09-10 1:56PM. The name of the user is derdares. In addition, i provide log from my server. For example, if i start the show "The good doctor S02E05" on my firestick, whit the user derdares, i don't see the playing activity on my server dashboard. If i finish the episode, then go later to watch the episode S02E06, in the continue watching section, it like i have not watched the S02E05. Alternatively, if, within the emby app on the firestick, i press the check mark to mark it viewed, nothing happen. I must go to the web version of emby to do that. These issue occur only if i am on my home network. If i'm playing from outside of my network, all working as expected. Thank embyserver.txt
ebr 16177 Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Hi. Do you have any sort of security or network watchdog software on your local network or the Fire stick? Or a proxy of some sort? It seems as if maybe something is interfering with the data being sent to your server for this call - possibly stripping some of the information out. 09-10 13:56:01.651 1338 1440 E Volley : [7090] BasicNetwork.performRequest: Unexpected response code 404 for http://172.16.1.25:8096/emby/Sessions/Playing/Progress
dardares 0 Posted September 11, 2023 Author Posted September 11, 2023 Hi, The only thing i have: -Adgard home (dns server that filtering ad on internet, network wide) -Bitdefender total security, used without vpn Except for that, i don't see anything else. Thank.
ebr 16177 Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 Hi. Can you try disabling those and see if it makes a difference?
dardares 0 Posted September 12, 2023 Author Posted September 12, 2023 Hi, Just tried that and the same issue occur. This happen only whit firestick, if i took my cellphone, do the same config, all is good. I found a workaround: if i configure my firestick whit the public IP and the https port, the issue not occur. As soon i use the local ip, whit the http port, the issue happen. The problem whit this workaround is the traffic go through internet for local connexion. Thank
Luke 42078 Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Are you sure it's a direct connection from app to server and not something in the middle interfering? Or firewall/security software? These kinds of things in your log are very uncommon: 2023-09-10 12:02:03.348 Debug App: ProcessReceiveSocketAsyncEventArgs_Completed SocketError: ConnectionReset 2023-09-10 12:02:03.348 Debug App: ProcessReceiveSocketAsyncEventArgs_Completed SocketError: ConnectionReset 2023-09-10 12:02:03.365 Debug App: ProcessReceiveSocketAsyncEventArgs_Completed SocketError: ConnectionReset 2023-09-10 12:02:03.365 Debug App: ProcessReceiveSocketAsyncEventArgs_Completed SocketError: ConnectionReset So those could be incoming requests that are getting aborted for some reason. I can't tell you why as that is specific to your network environment, but I can just tell you what I'm seeing.
ebr 16177 Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 We've seen this happen before on Amazon devices. Something in the middle is not passing on all of the post data on our calls. I cannot recall exactly what was discovered last time but I think something like a VPN on the device was doing it.
