Image resolution

Is there a setting to have images that are automatically fetched to be of a higher resolution ? By default it looks like they downloaded at 640x480

Where did that come from? Have you compared to  what they actually have available?

It got auto populated using the external ids section I'm guessing.

It got populated from your highest priority episode image fetcher in your library settings. What is  that?

At least we think. the server doesn’t keep track of where images came from after they’re downloaded, so you could have already had it in your folder next to the video file.

 In any case , you could try using the manual image editor to see what is actually available.

My guess would be its a screen grab or embedded image.

Tvdb also has a lot of low resolution episode images.

 They started improving this a couple years back but there’s still a lot of low quality ones in their database.
