Error message when trying to install portable version

Recommended Posts

I have downloaded and unzipped the portable install for Emby to an external SSD connected to my PC to try running it from there.  Problem is, I click the Embyserver.exe and it opens but gives me the error:  Could not find file '\dashboard-ui\index.html'.

Not sure what is going on or how to fix.  Can anyone help?  Thanks

Nope.....get the same error message.  Cleared everything from Chrome, Edge and Brave and tried it on all 3.....NO GO.

After the file is unzipped I double clicked the Embyserver.exe and I can see it running in the system tray.  But I will tell you that everything that was unzipped, all the folders are completely empty....not sure if they are supposed to be or not.  I question this cause the instructions say to run the Embyserver.exe from within the System folder.....there is nothing in that folder or any of the others.

After you unzip it, what are the contents underneath? The only thing that comes to mind is antivirus or security software falsely tampering with the files.

After unzipping there are 2 folders:

embyserver-win-x64-4.7.14.0

programdata

and what's inside embyserver-win-x64-4.7.14.0?

A ton of folders (all of which are completely empty) and a ton of files,  If you download and unzip it on your end you'll see what I see.

I just downloaded same portable install, have no issues seeing all the files and running it.
