TrueNas - Upgraded to 4.7.14.0 - Folder thumbnails missing

I updated my TrueNas installation of Emby, and since then my folder images have all gone black.  I ave googled and searched with out finding a solution.

Server has been rebooted,  images deleted etc.   New movies or TV shows are getting metadata updated and images for them.  It only seems to be the Folders that are missing the images

I attached my server logs,  I would appreciate any guidance to fixing it

Thank you

HI, we're looking into this. Thanks for reporting.

Thanks Luke,

I have recreated my account on here,  Since the update I have been having a host of issues, and I am not too sure where to go to try to resolve.

TrueNas  13 (latest updates)  and Latest Emby Server.      I have been getting consistent "No Compatible playback streams available"   I can not get Emby to Transcode anything any more.  if I disable transcode I can direct play,  but anything requiring a transcode fails.

I have removed and reinstalled emby a few times, and it seems to not be seeing my Intel card for transcoding?

No matter what I do I can not get it transcode anything and the files just stop and go back to the main menu.

I attached my log files if you can maybe see something in there.   I have searched and searched and can not find a solution.

Any help would be appreciated

Hello, I have the same problem. After the update there were only problems. Streams were not available. TV apps all crashed or stopped responding. Since I could not fix the problem I deleted the jail and did a complete reinstall. After the scan only the covers are available, the content is completely missing or all remaining metadata and streams.

It’s not a beta version of truenas, is it?

No, I have the version TrueNAS-13.0-U5.3. The update was from 4.7.13.0 to 4.7.14.0. The version 4.7.13.0 was still running, but I don't know if I haven't noticed any problems here.

After reinstallation, each app says Please sign in with an endless circle to load

Is there a tutorial to reinstall the previous version 4.7.13.0? This would yes clarify the problem for the time being ...

I too am on a stable version of Truenas Core.   Emby was working fine after the last Truenas update.    I could not get this new version of emby to transcode at all, and it seems it is no longer detecting the intel video card for hardware transcode.  I reinstalled multiple times,  even tried the beta version,  but that wouldn't install at all.

I have since installed Emby server on a Windows box and outside of the truenas environment and it is working perfectly there.

How did you guys install Emby Server? What version of libjpeg-turbo do you have installed on your system?

Posted

I used the automated truenas Plugins installer.

Jpeg-turbo is at version 3.0.0

I included a Package list from the Emby jail if that helps

Installed both via the plugin, as well as via the shell input, as described on the Emby page. After the 6th install, the server runs with metadata, but with subterranean performance. Selecting a file takes about 1 minute! I ask again because of a 4.7.13.0 downgrade reinstall. I'm getting a bit annoyed with the Emby software, because after the 3rd or 4th update at the latest, I have to reinstall everything every time. As a comparison, I have a Plex installation for 5 years on the same server that does not have these problems.

I have since figured out myself how to reinstall the 4.7.13.0. During the installation there was the following message:

Message from intel-media-sdk-22.4.3:
===> NOTE:
The intel-media-sdk port currently has no maintainer. As a result
more likely to have unresolved issues, not be up to date, or even be removed in the
removed in the future.

Version 4.7.13.0 runs without bugs so far.

As a test, if you downgrade libjpeg-turbo to the latest 2.X version, does that resolve the issue?

I was unable to find an easy way to downgrade that one package.   I did how ever try a different route

I built  new clean Jail and installed the 4.7.13 to test using the EMBY instructions.   That server works, and seemed to work as it did prior to the upgrade.   I realize now that even this version was not detecting my intel card for transcoding, but was using my CPU to do it.  Performance is the same as before.

I then upgraded to 7.4.14 in that jail, but left the other packages alone.   Transcoding works as before with 7.4.13,  but the folder icon will no not generate.

Jpeg-Turbo is at 2.1.5.1

4.7.14 is built against jpeg-turbo 3.0, so can you try updating it in this jail?

We are currently backporting the fix in the beta packages to the stable packages. There were actually too issues, one caused by truenas using an EOL freebsd release, the other caused by skia and libjpeg being very temperamental.

I read on freebsd.org, the stable 13.0 has as EOL the 31.01.2026 . What does that mean then, Truenas uses an EOL release?

Please have a look at this page: https://www.freebsd.org/security/unsupported/

13.0 was EOLed in 2022, and 13.1 in July this year. Only 13.2 is currently supported, stable/13 doesn't mean 13.0, it means the tip of the 13 branch, currently 13.2.

In any case, the builds on both our website and Ports are now updated. If you're still having issues with images or transcoding, please download and install the latest revision to Emby Server 4.7.14. Thanks !
