arrbee99 1817 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Just wondering, is there an option somewhere to show separate versions of the same TV show where the only difference is resolution, so in My Media > TV there would be an entry for Chernobyl and another one for Chernobyl 4K ?
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 I don't use it but I believe there is a pre-play option where as you start playback you can choose the version to be played. I know it is available for movies so I believe it should be available for TV shows. But you do need to go into the pre-play screen to get the choice.
arrbee99 1817 Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 Correctamundo ! But I do tend to forget its there and in Movies I can have - and yet haven't seem a similar possibility for TV series.
Luke 42083 Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 For TV series this is controlled in the library options.
arrbee99 1817 Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 It is ? I can't find anything except 'Automatically merge series that are spread across multiple folders', which isn't quite the same.
arrbee99 1817 Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 Yes its good that that option will take say series 1 of House on one drive and season 2 on another drive and treat them as one, but am hoping there's a way to treat different resolutions of the same series as separate items, as per Movies.
Luke 42083 Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 I mean you would have to just disable the library option altogether and have two different entries of the same series. From there you can rename one of them as desired.
arrbee99 1817 Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 I could try. I'm sure I don't get how it works, but does it not affect items added before the settings change - I had 1128 series with that option ticked and 1128 series with it unticked.

As with movies, you can add a suffix to the name with (e.g.) the resolution, and you will get a drop-down list. But you have to do this episode by episode - there's no whole-series way to do it other than by providing separate folders which aren't allowed to get merged. Paul

Paul But is there a way to stop them being merged, except for the option mentioned above ? Still not sure what that does, regarding the 1128 series count also mentioned.
pwhodges 2012 Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 The option above is how to stop them being merged; it is, however, a per-library setting - so if you have any single series which are spread over multiple folders on different discs, it won't do for you. I would never contemplate (dis)organising my data like that, though I can see situations in which it might happen naturally. Paul
arrbee99 1817 Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 Well yes, I add say Endeavour to H drive, it gets filled up, add another drive or two, later add more Endeavour to K drive, so I want it to appear as one. What I don't get is unticking that option and nothing changes in My Media > TV, Endeavour still shows as one item. Or now I read the comment above, is that expected behaviour ? Or am I mixing up the whole series Endeavour with individual series 1,2,3...
