fatshotty 4 Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 hello, I have a similar problem I have a large tvshows library (about 1500 tvshows, 80k episode files). I've added last episode file about a week ago. A full scan job has been executed (slow but completed). Two days ago I started a "update metadata" task on entire tvshows library, selecting "refresh all metadata". I think emby refreshes all internet information about tvshows such as rating, for example. Job has correctly started but it is still on 90% Navigating into logfile, I read that emby is executing "ffprobe" command on each episode file. Why? My files have not been changed, they are the same! I think emby already has all information about them. Why emby needs to ffprobe them? Each ffprobe task takes about 5/6s for file. However, how can I only refresh internet information for my tvshows without re-analysing entire library files? thanks in advance

Luke 42083 Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Hi, let’s look at a specific example: How to Report a Problem Thanks.
fatshotty 4 Posted August 26, 2023 Author Posted August 26, 2023 this is some log lines about 2 episode files https://pastebin.com/HAGPZMdR this is entire logfile got on Aug 23 ("refresh metadati" task has been started on Aug 22 morning) embyserver-63828432000.txt
fatshotty 4 Posted August 27, 2023 Author Posted August 27, 2023 just one more info: today morning I started "refresh metadata" task on on my "anime" library. I selected "search for missing metadata" and check "overwrite existing images". Unfortunately emby is still executing "ffprobe" on all episode files and it is very very slow My files are not changed since the month before, so emby should already have all "ffprobe" information for each file. I don't understand why emby has to re-execute ffprobe Sorry about that, but this is a very frustrating situation for me, because I have a lot of tvshows (and anime) and this problem makes me avoid refresh metadata because the long time it takes I'm using emby beta 4.8.0.41

It does everything again.

So, is there a way to refresh information only, without re-ffprobe all files? Is it possible to add the "flag to check" about "re-analysing all files" or not? I love emby and that's the reason I subscribed a lifetime emby-premiere. So, in emby I trust but in this way it cannot be possible to refresh metadati because it takes a lot of days (..and I didn't refresh metadata on my movies library yet )
Luke 42083 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Currently the two sets of information are linked together and that's why they both happen together. But yes at some point we can look at splitting them apart.
fatshotty 4 Posted August 27, 2023 Author Posted August 27, 2023 Many thanks Do u think that this this feature could be introduced in emby beta flow?
Luke 42083 Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 Hi, yes we are working on improving it. Thanks.
