Mr.Berzerk 4 Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 (edited) Recently I had a disk on my media RAID fail, and after I rebuilt the raid users were complaining that several movies/episodes were playing garbled like they were watching them on realmedia player from the 90s. I confirmed that the problem is only on certain users. Doesn't matter what the PC or device the user is playing them on. Is there a user cache or similar that I need to clear, after the RAID rebuild? Are the users corrupted? The Emby server is installed on Linux, and using an SSD for the server software, all the media is on a separate mounted RAID6. Edited August 23, 2023 by Mr.Berzerk
Luke 42077 Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
Mr.Berzerk 4 Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 Hey, sorry for the late reply. I've done some further investigation, and found out that the issues only occurs when subtitles are on. That was why some accounts were experiencing the issue, while others were not. It depended on if they had subtitles on. I am using the latest stable Linux Debian version of Emby. Version 4.7.14.0
Mr.Berzerk 4 Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 Here is a screen shot with the type of subtitle. In this example the subtitles were taken from the DVD. I only have about 6 movies of ~10,000 that use srt files. Nearly everything under 1080p is .m4v, anything 1080p or better is in .mkv, with the subtitles stored in the m4v/mkv containers.
Luke 42077 Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 @Mr.Berzerkcan you please attach the emby server and ffmpeg log files from an example? How to Report a Problem Thanks.
