bartpet 3 Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 Hello, I resized many posters and banners to similar dimensions. The program i used was Irfanview (Thumbnails). The new posters and banners (with correct dimensions) were moved to logical collection folders on my desktop. I want to move e.g. the new (correct dimension) posters to all my movie folders and overwrite the existing original (wrong dimensions) posters in all my movie folders. For the naming of files and folders i used the Emby naming conventions, also for the new posters and banners. Is there any way to do this faster than moving it one by one, which takes a long time? Greetings Bart
Ronstang 294 Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 (edited) I ran a test to see if this works with a program I have and it works.....with a CAVEAT. I used FastCopy. For the source you can select multiple folders so you can select your logical collection folders....BUT....for the destination you can only choose one folder. So in order for this to work you would temporarily have to move all you movie folders into one giant parent directory, if they are not already, to move and overwrite all the files in the sub folders. Then you could simply move all the folders back to where they were. If all the folders are in the root of a drive you can select the entire drive an run it. I used Copy (overwrite) to make sure the new posters would overwrite all the existing posters and no other files in the folders were affected. You could us Move (Overwrite) if you choose also but be careful with this one, I tested it and it did not empty out my folders on the destination drive but it moved the original folders thus deleting them so you can't go back. Just to be safe I would copy 4 or 5 folders to a new location, and test this to make sure you have it set up correctly. That is what I did to test it so I could see if this worked before I posted. This is very quick and you should be able to overwrite thousands of files in a short order......and you can select verify to make sure they were written correctly. Good Luck. bartpet 3 Posted August 22, 2023 Author Posted August 22, 2023 Thank you very much Ronstang. What i did was bringing all the posters in one giant parent directory like you told me. Than i used file2foldergui to place all the posters in folders by the same (movie) name. Than i renamed the folders because after using file2foldergui the movies were named like e.g.The Good Dinosaur (2015)-poster. So i used advanced renamer to get rid of the -poster. And than i copied all the new poster-folders to the movie folders. It worked, without any problems. Thanks for your advice Greetings Bart
