y29shi 8 Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 I have seen some other show/movie linked to the wrong actors and I have manually changed all of them that I could find and kept this one to take screenshots as an example: I have the show "The Falcon And The Winter Soldier" in my library and I can see that the actors are definitely wrong because it says sam wilson is played by a chinese actor: then when I click on the first actor Wu Yue, I can see the information is about Wu Yue instead of Anthony Mackie: I tried manually refreshing the show's metadata and nothing changes. But if I refresh Wu Yue's metadata, I can see that the description about the actor is now changed and correct: then if I try to modify the metadata, I can see that the "sort title" is now correct, only the "title" remains unchanged. I have not locked the title, it should not remain unchanged while other info changes to the correct version, right? And it should not have gotten the wrong actor's info in the first place...
Luke 42083 Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 HI, yea it's strange. Please see the last two pages here for what this user did: Thanks.

There definitely has something wrong with the linkages between medias and actors. There are a lot of Chinese movies/shows which I am sure don't have American actors in them, but my emby server keeps telling me that some American actors are in there. And there are too many wrong linkages that I just can't adjust them one by one...

Then if I click on him, emby redirects me to henry's detail page. But in there, I can only see that he played two movies in my library. However, I have another two movies containing him. Then I tried to locate the DC movies he played and I can see that the actor linkage was indeed correct, meaning it didn't mistakely links another actor to the superman role. But if I click on him in these two movies, it doesn't show the mission impossible and ghosted. I tried refreshing all related metadata (movies', actor's) and I even tried re-recogonize the actor and I manually selected Henry Cavill from both pages, but nothing changes...

Please see the last two pages here for what this user did: Thanks. in the metadata folder, there are two subfolders with name "Chris Evans". Both have the imdb id pointing to the real Chris Evans, but only one of them have the correct tmdb id and the other one is wrong (that Chinese actor indeed played in a movie that is in my library). I don't know how it bacame like this, but it is like this now.
Luke 42083 Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 Yea the issue is how did it happen, and that's what we don't know yet.

So these two actors' family names are Wu and Ning. I noticed that when the emby server recognizes a movie/show, if there's Chinese actors, it would display the actors' name in Chinese convention, unless that person has an English name: The name in the red boxes are all family names in Chinese and they are all in the front, and the name in the green box has the family name at the end. Now let's look at the two names in the blue box: the roles' names are Sun Xing and Ma Shuai (also in Chinese convention) but both of their actors' names are Ning Li, but according to the 2nd and 3rd pics in this post, only Ma Shuai's is actually played by Ning Li, Sun Xing is played by another actor named Xiaoliang Wu (in English convention). Therefore, I tried manually change Sun Xing's player to Wu Xiaoliang (because I want to use the same convention that emby server uses, this name doesn't consist of English name, so it should be in Chinese convention) and saved it. But after refreshing the page, then if I open the metadata again, I would see that the actor is changed back to Ning Li again (I tried locking the metadata as well). But I then tried to put the actor's name in English convention "Xiaoliang Wu" and saved it, then I can see that this information is indeed saved successfully (I opened the metadata after refreshing the page and the actor is now Xiaoliang Wu). I feel this is a really strange case because it seems failing to save the metadata only when I put the name in Chinese convention but not in English convention. I'm not sure if this founding can be useful to you.
y29shi 8 Posted September 6, 2023 Author Posted September 6, 2023 another example: in Jessica Jones, this role Patricia 'Trish' Walker is played by Rachael Taylor but it recognizes as Daniel Brühl. Everytime I manually change it to Rachael Taylor and save it, it keeps changing back to Daniel Brühl if I open the metadata again.
y29shi 8 Posted September 6, 2023 Author Posted September 6, 2023 (edited) Wow! right after I posted the example just now, then I went back to refresh one last time, it recognizes as Rachael Taylor! and for other movies/shows that was indeed played by Daniel Brühl didn't get to recognized as Rachael Taylor! Cross that. When I refreshed the metadata for other movies/shows that was indeed played by Daniel Brühl, they now recognize as Rachael Taylor... Edited September 6, 2023 by y29shi
Luke 42083 Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 HI, yea I don't know why this has happened for you and another user, but you may need to make a fresh start with your server database.
