Any way to edit the media database location, rather than re-scan ?

I have the need to change the location stored for the movies for example from /mnt/user/media/movies to /media/movies.

I did a test on my much smaller 4k and DV libraries (less than 3% the size) and there was quite a while with emby not showing any images etc for them - i assume while re-scanning and updating the database ?  I use nfo storage and all media stored in the same media folders if that matters.

Is there a hack method of some sort where I can just change every location from  /mnt/user/media/movies to /media/movies to /media/movies and not have this impact ?

HI, officially no, although if you search the forum you will undoubtedly find some tricks that users have discovered.

We plan to add an official way to do this in future updates Thanks.

Cheers - I did do some searching but must not have had the right key words, or maybe the wrong section - will check again.

Vaise,
Try copying the folders first, then switching the library links inside Emby.  Then clearing the old library folders.

I've seen some sql hacks from @Carlo ...

But if you are using NFO's as well - then it's probably worth going the official route and let emby sort itself out.

Maybe move small sections at a time to allow emby to play catch up ..

Is this for a container based instance of Emby?

I thought I’d moving bits at a time while the both folders are in the library overnight.  I think that’s the way I will do it.  Cheers.

Not knowing what your objective is here but if all you want to do is prevent a rescan you should be able to map the bind mounts to be the same as the existing library paths. In your case that would be:

  volumes:
    - /mnt/user/media:/mnt/user/media

This should preserve the library paths if this is what they look like in the library definitions. If you can share more of what you're trying to do then there might be other options.

Nah - this is unraid - cant do that.

I am going to move it bit by bit - letter by letter etc - i.e add the new path so they are both there, then move all the A's, tell it to rescan the library, then when thei images are back, to the B's and so on......
