spaxx24 0 Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Has anyone actually got this to work properly? I'm using emby on my nvidia shield. My sound system is Arc + Sub + Era 300 Rears. When I play a movie with DTS sound and the included "PGSUB" subtitles the file cant play, its just buffering. If I either: Turn off DTS pass-through in Emby settings Turn off the PGSUB subtitles Turn off PGSUB subtitles and find manual subtitles on opensubtitles and use that SRT file instead It works. Problem is that I dont want to turn off pass-through and I would like to original subtitles. I understand that this happens because the transcoding gets to heavy, but is there any work around? The same file plays perfectly on Kodi with the PGSUB subtitles. I rather use emby than Kodi and since the same file works there I suppose there has to be a fix?
ebr 16187 Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Hi there, let's look at a specific example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
spaxx24 0 Posted August 17, 2023 Author Posted August 17, 2023 Sure, this is older but still the same problem.
Luke 42083 Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 @spaxx24can we please look at a specific example using the version of Emby Server that you're running now?

Yes, I add them here. I try to play a movie with DTS sound and the PGSUB subtitles. It's just buffering and then I back out after 2 min or something ffmpeg-transcode-c98ddc5c-a818-4b11-89a2-c4aaf718e29c_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-35a019de-de79-4b5e-808a-79561ba7ba62_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-ecbdb2ea-32ca-456d-9432-fd6d57eb0e78_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-6233fa3f-8296-4f57-bbb0-77e6c9dbfd73_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-ed7e8901-8ae5-4d12-9be2-6f42c8d39c5d_1.txt embyserver.txt Edited August 17, 2023 by spaxx24
ebr 16187 Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Hi. How were these items created? It looks like there are multiple errors trying to direct play them and then ffmpeg isn't even getting going in most instances. Can you please play that item for a few seconds and then follow the instructions to send a log from the app?
spaxx24 0 Posted August 18, 2023 Author Posted August 18, 2023 I sent the logs right now, around 14.00 -5 UTC. What I did was I started Quantum Of Solace, with DTS sound passthrough on and subtitles OFF. It worked. Then I turned English subtitles on and it buffered for like 1 min maybe, played 5 seconds and then buffered again. I let it to this maybe 3 times and then I sent the logs. 3 hours ago, ebr said: Hi. ebr 16187 Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Hi. What was the name of the logged in user and the name of the server connected to? The one log I see around that time was for something without PGS subtitles (nor DTS audio).

It was AC3 with closed captions (appears to have been a recording). In any case, it appears Luke is onto the solution. Thanks.
