KarmaPolice 16 Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 I'd like to add the ability to convert to AV1 to Emby's auto-convert settings... I realize it's a bit "heavy" to ask for a sensible default setting of AV1 right now, so I was hoping you could just more generically add the ability to run "a command" against a given file for the conversion process. Then, any command that can be run by the emby user could be plugged into Emby's auto-convert feature. 1
KarmaPolice 16 Posted August 21, 2023 Author Posted August 21, 2023 The primary thing I'm interested in doing is running av1an to transcode to AV1... ideally running this wrapped via docker run... but fundamentally I would think the feature should be more flexible/generic than that... basically an option to have the server run a prescribed command to transcode a file for you... I realize this could be a security hole in a big way, so not entirely sure how to limit that either... maybe the transcoding process could be abstracted to plugins such that you could create a plugin which did the commands for you and installed the plugin into emby rather than emby itself driving the commands... not sure of the best way to think of it honestly.
Luke 42078 Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 What if we just added av1 as an output codec option with the convert feature?
KarmaPolice 16 Posted August 25, 2023 Author Posted August 25, 2023 That'd be fine I guess ... I'm just a bit bit picky about encoding parameters so was hoping for more control but still the managed interface that Emby adds. 1
