Does Emby know how to work with music compilations (various artists)?

Hi.

My music is sorted simply. Each folder is a collection of several tracks from different artists.

Now in the albums tab I see about the same number of albums as tracks. That is Emby shows an album for each track! See screenshot. I need to make folder=collection=album. How to do it?

If I remember I think the "right" way to do compilation albums (not emby-specific) is to set your tags like this for each track:

Artist - "Various" (no quotes, doesn't have the be the word Various, could be Compilation or whatever you want, but must be identical for all tracks on the album)

Album - the album title (identical for all tracks)

Album Artist - the track artist (e.g. Chemical Brothers)

That should let any tag-aware library manager sort it properly as a single album.  You can easily do mass tag updates with a program like MP3Tag.

Sorry I have that backwards.  Put "Various" or whatever in the Album Artist tag, and the appropriate track artist name in the Artist tag.
