SteveFintel 30 Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 I always shoot Raw + JPEG. When I imported my photo library into Emby, the raw files from my previous cameras were rendered properly. My newest camera (a Sony A7SIII) raw files show as black boxes. I'm currently running emby-server 4.8.0.40 in a TrueNAS jail, but all previous versions of emby-server that I've run (including 4.7.x.x and 4.8.x.x) have had the same problem. I've also updated the jail itself through a few versions and there's no change there either. I have provided an example pair of files (ARW and JPG) that exhibit this problem. _DSC1986.ARW
Luke 42083 Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 HI, please attach the emby server log from when you tried to pull it up: How to Report a Problem Thanks.
SteveFintel 30 Posted August 14, 2023 Author Posted August 14, 2023 Here's the log that includes what happened when I tried to display _DSC1986.ARW. embyserver.txt
Luke 42083 Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 OK we use skia for image processing and it looks like there may be some arw files that it has trouble with: https://github.com/mono/SkiaSharp/issues/1565
SteveFintel 30 Posted August 15, 2023 Author Posted August 15, 2023 Since this bug is over 2 years old with little apparent response from the developers, how about the option of turning off raw support in Emby? It's really superfluous anyway because the jpgs almost always render better for a screen. Raw support only makes sense if the user is post processing the image. Since the web client allows me to filter a view, how hard can it be to set a default filter for any view?
