Content in the "suggestion" tab displays content from other libraries

Hi !

When I go to the "Suggestion" tab, I have playlists that are created with the content that I have liked or watched but from other libraries.

I have 2 movie library, an adult and a child, and suddenly it gets mixed up and I don't want to.

Is there a way to prevent this?

Thanks

Hi, yes this is currently the way it works, although each user should only see content that they're granted access to.

The problem is that if an adult watches several horror films, or another film whose covers may offend children, when the child connects, he sees content that he shouldn't.

You're going to tell me that I just have to create a user especially for the child, but I don't really want to. It would become unmanageable with all these families and children...

Can't we just add an option that allows or not auto playlists to be viewed in other libraries?

Thank you anyway

I wasn't talking about pornographic content, just movies over 14 or 16 years old.

But I just tried with porn content, and it does too...

If I navigate in the suggestions and my child goes last me, at any time he sees a cover with content +18...

We should be able to hide certain categories under a PIN and be able to authorize whether or not the suggestions search in other libraries. Everything would be much simpler. 👌

Hi. Yes, all of our features are designed around users which gives you the ability to tailor the view to each individual just like you are asking for.  Without different users, what is keeping your child from just entering the other library?

We are a personal media server so you should only be dealing with your one family and children.

You sell licenses for 75 users, you have large families at home... 😅😬 But hey, that's not the point.

I'm ok with that, but I'm talking about a situation where I control my TV, I don't control people coming to my house.

As I said above if I'm watching my list of fantastic movies on my profile, my child is next and the suggestion offers me a movie -18?

I mean, it's just common sense, an adult category, pornographic or not, like horror movies and other shocking movies, should be hidden in the suggestions and main menus, no matter the user...

If you use a single user for your entire family what you see is what you get. Instead you have to curate the libraries each user has access to and use the "Switch User". If you want your account restricted as your child might switch to it. Use "Sign out" and it will force your child to know your password to then access that content.

The entire security model of everything is dependent that you assign users/groups. So you can create a "Kids" user and add appropriate librarys for your kids. Then limit access to anything 18+ and from even seeing your porn library and such. For your user "GrownUps" add every library with no parental controls. If your children are always checking to see if you left yourself logged in and are always trying to watch they likely just want to see what stuff you are into. Most children can already get any type of porn from their friends and the internet. TikTok exists so does Reddit. They just are curious what mom and dad may watch.

It would be silly for Emby to just eliminate porn and 18+ from appearing in suggestions without someone telling it to. Emby isn't the parent. The parental controls cannot work without the concept of users.

Every streaming site uses this concept of users to assign suggestions, favorites and appropriate content. Emby is no different here.

The same concept goes for email addresses. Do you just use SmithFamily@gmail.com for your entire family and everyone in it has the password? Or do you all have separate email accounts for privacy?

We don't understand each other I think...

I understood how a parental control works and how Emby uses it. It works well, we create several users with different library rights and classification limits. That's perfect.

What bothers me is that if I log in to my account and look at my film suggestions, I'm going to have to watch out who's around me because in the suggestions, I'm offered films X whose covers I don't want my child to see...

And no, you are the only platform that forces suggestions without us having any control over it. I can't edit, hide or disable them.

On, Plex, netflix, canal+, etc. I will never see a suggestion showing me an X movie... Even on an account that has the right to do so. It's just common sense.

We should just have a checkbox, when we create a library, to authorize which library can appear in the suggestions. It's not much and everyone would be happy 😇

Have you configured parental controls for the child user account?

There is no child user account, that's the whole point of this thread.

OP is asking for a way to prevent content above a certain rating to not be displayed in the 'Suggestions' list under a single account.

OK, an option to limit it to the same library is always possible.

That wouldn't solve his issue though...  He would need a rating limit on suggestions separate from the rating limit of the user and/or the ability to remove suggestions altogether.

Especially preventing the content of another library rather than a certain age, that would be great 😍
