I wish I could get Emby to work like AirVideoHD did when it was around

Where Emby is just a dumb file list reader and does not have to load each movie, tv show, or video with a thumbnail, etc

Unless this is possible?

You basically saw new video files instantly with Air Video HD sense it did not do anything except read a list of file names as they became available on a folder or drive.

 

Talking about mainly with my client being iOS or android.

 

Server being windows or synology.

Air Video HD is basically instant when showing new content.

 

It is ok though. Will just have to use both Emby and Air Video HD still. Oh well.

Even basic WebDAV works instantly but I do not want to stream a full 60 to 80 GB video file sense most of the time it does not work stable enough over cellular sadly.

 

Maybe in 20 years it will.

Air video still works perfectly for me and still around if you purchased it, you can still download it if you purchased it in the App store. I use version 2.2.1 and VLC from the archives 2.2.1 to play all 264 files. Click on app store and in the top right click on your account then apps, my apps and not on this iphone/ipad and download it again. if you need the server file I can share it if you dont have it anymore but I only have 2.2.1 as i had issues with virgin media and enabling port mapping on the newer versions before it shut down  so it didnt connect to the internet
