Playback stopping out of nowhere

Recommended Posts

As promised in this thread, I'd open seperate ones. Here is another playback issue that I am experiencing. I'm not transcoding, just playing a movie on a more than fast enough connection, and hardware. Just stops playing. Stopping an playing again yields the same result. Will add more info later

Not as often. But it is almost a guarentee that if I forward a file (so skip on the progress bar to a diff point in movie) it can sometimes stop playing. Especially if I do this right after opening a file. So start playing, skip to 20 minutes almost right after starting. It stops working. Also noticed that if there is a playback error, and I sotp playing and start pkaying again it will usually crash at that point. As if it's using some cache/temporary files from last session instead of purging and starting fresh.

@Lukeanything I can do to help (extra logs or something)? Was inactive for quite a while here. See that some new 4.8 beta's are out, any ETA on a release? Would love some performance improvements

Hopefully soon and with lots of performance improvements.

Can you please attach the log files to this forum posting? Thanks.

Here you go, this is similar where even though it's direct playback on local (and fast) network from a speedy drive (WD Red) it just won't play. I started playing, and skipped ahead to the part I wanted and it never started. Closed video, let is play for a bit longer before skipping, which did but when using the skip 10 second buttons a few time to get to the right spot it froze again.

This sounds to me as if the server is having to transcode the file, and is being slow doing it - so jumping forward quickly catches it out.  Are you sure you're direct playing in these instances?  Stats for nerds on the client or the Dashboard on the server will tell you that.
