Lighthammer 91 Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 Greetings, I feel a bit stupid asking this one, but this doesn't appear to be covered in the wiki and I feel like I've done this before. Is there a way to get Emby to recognize Part A/B/C/etc episodes "easily". I have a series that is pre-split based on the A/B parts, but I don't believe Emby will under/stand recognize if I toss them in as, say S01E01A or something to that affect. Is there a described nomenclature for this setup? Thanks in advance.

But here's two options: They might get grouped together as one video with two versions. You can use the button at the bottom of the detail screen to split them apart. This way they will appear separately in the episodes list. Or you can use mkvmerge to merge them into one mkv.
MBSki 1114 Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 I usually name them with PtX at the end. So something like this: Show Name - s01e01 - episode name-Pt1; and Show Name - s01e01 - episode name-Pt2. This way they'll show up as versions in a drop down list. If the 2 parts show up as seperate episodes in TVDb, then I use the approach @GrimReapersuggested and split them apart. Once split you can manually edit the metadata so you know exactly which part is which.

I might have to go over and make a suggestion to do this. It feels --- bad merging files back together that someone painstaking took apart. It's also annoying/weird that some series get officially split on places like IMDB/TMDB but yet other series don't. Super Friends is a good example of a series that premiered as mostly A/B episodes but then something like Alvin and the Chipmonks has A/B, but they are listed on both sites as single episodes. Thinking back, I actually went through and PAINSTAKING (Myself) edited everything on the backend of Emby to make it show the way I wanted it to (A/B being episode 1 & 2) --- then at some point, someone with powers above mine, changed it on IMDB. 14 hours ago, MBSki said: I usually name them with PtX at the end. Thanks for the suggestion, but I feel this feels like a janky way to do it. If it works in your library for your users; AWESOME! I feel this would cause confusion in/around my server for people who might actually use these series.
