How to naming/structure seasonal files in the same folder

I've been searching and trying to find out how to name files and folders to get multiple files in one folder rather than individual ones. So sorry if this topic already exists, I just haven't seen it when searching. For this case I'm trying to put all the super bowl halftime shows that I have in one folder rather than individual ones.

Attempt 1
I've tried both having the files all in one folder:

NFL Super Bowl halftime show/
NFL Super Bowl halftime show/NFL Super Bowl halftime show - 2012.mp4
NFL Super Bowl halftime show/NFL Super Bowl halftime show - 2013.mp4...

But this approach still rendered individual folders and Emby trying to match each to some random movie.

Attempt 2
So I tried doing the season folder approach:

NFL Super Bowl halftime show/Season 2012/NFL Super Bowl halftime show - S2012E01.mp4
NFL Super Bowl halftime show/Season 2013/NFL Super Bowl halftime show - S2013E01.mp4...

This also rendered individual folders as well as Emby trying to match each clip to a random movie (emby02.jpg).

Attempt 3
Then I tired the first solution again, remove all generated nfo files, set the "Minimum automatic collection size" setting for the folder to 1 and used the same naming convention as in solution 2 then it does show just one folder but interprets the different episodes as different versions of the same film. Although this is the closest to what I want to do, however not exactly but at least it's close, it is limited to having 9 different versions. Having more makes it break and be displayed as individual folders in the Emby app again. This collection will grow to more than nine pretty soon.

The halftime shows themselves doesn't all exist in imdb or other databases either which means I can't use that for help either and makes Emby try and match them itself. Saying that I'm pretty sure if they did exist it would mean Emby would generate individual folders for them.

So can someone help me how to get this working? It would be helpful in multiple instances where you want to group multiple clips in one folder. I could see it being useful for if you also kept all The annual Oscars awards in one folder , MTV VMAs in one folder, NFL/NHL/FIFA Finals all grouped in one folder per event etc.

Are you trying to do this in a Movie library or TV Show library?

Attempt 2 should work with a tv show library, but it wouldn't match anything. You'll have to manually add art and change metadata.

Yeah it is a Movies folder. It doesn't seem like it's possible to change the folder type so I guess I have to create a new one if I want to change it. Would this work in a mixed content type folder or would it break everything else already in the folder? Ideally I wouldn't want to create a whole new library just for this folder.

I think mixed content type would probably work, but I don't deal with them much so can't be sure how movies would be treated in a mixed content type library. I think it's preferable to keep movies in a movies library. Do you have another TV show library?

I do. I have three different tv-show folders but none of them relate to music/live shows/concerts etc. The current folder holds all of that which is why it would make sense to have the folder with all half time shows there as well. I'll try making a new library that's mixed. If it works then I'll move all music content over to that one instead.

Hi, what gave you the impression that this option has any relation to your episode presentation? Did you read the help in the preceding option that comes before it?

Anyway my suggestion would be a TV library, if you can fit your folder and file naming into what we list as supported in our TV Naming guide.

Perhaps naming episode files by date would look better here?

In any event, if none of this pans out, then I would do a home videos library as it will accept any file naming.

So a trick I've used for non metadata provider unstructured files, where you want file system 'folders' listed - is to use a TV library and force it by simply creating a Season 0 at the root.  If you don't do this, then I've found it will try and put the files all in one folder again.   Once the other folders are seen as 'Seasons', then you can remove it again if you like.  Any sub 'folder' then becomes a 'Season' - and thus you get your structure without resorting to the 'folder' view in emby.

As an example - Library just points to ..\Subscriptions
