kebarriere 0 Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 Hi, I've been having a new problem for a few weeks where movie playback stops and won't start again unless I close and reopen the app. I only experienced it with 4K movies but that's the only content I'm watching at the moment. I first noticed it on the WebOS Emby app on my LG B2. I tested the same movie in Chrome on the server PC and it does the same, except instead of going black when stopping, the frame freezes. I've searched the forums for similar problems and I noticed the movie was being transcoded because of the PGS subtitles. So I relaunched the movie, disabled the subtitles and downloaded SRT ones. The movie was then playing without being transcoded, but the playback stopped a bit later still. This morning, I launched the movie on the Android app on my phone and it hasn't stopped yet (about 15 minutes playback). I'm attaching a zip file with 2 folders, one with server and transcoding logs and screen captures on TV, and one on Chrome. The server PC specs are as follow: Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9600K CPU @ 3.70GHz 3.70 GHz Installed RAM 32,0 GB System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display Edition Windows 11 Home Version 22H2 Installed on 27-11-22 OS build 22621.2134 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22659.1000.0 Is there any other info I can provide to help troubleshooting? Thanks! Playback stop 2023-08-09.zip

kebarriere 0 Posted August 14, 2023 Author Posted August 14, 2023 Hi, Anyone had the chance to look at my logs? I've downloaded 4 different versions of the same movie and the playback always stops after a while. I can't watch anything right now...

Luke 42083 Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Hi, is this only an issue with videos that require tone mapping? Have you tried rebooting the server machine?
kebarriere 0 Posted August 15, 2023 Author Posted August 15, 2023 @LukeNo, it also happened on a direct play movie without anything special (see screenshot). I've tried restarting Emby Server and rebooting my server. hardware_detection-63827643911.txt embyserver.txt
kebarriere 0 Posted August 15, 2023 Author Posted August 15, 2023 Hi @Luke, I tried playing the same movie with Emby on my Chromecast on my other TV and it had no problem for about an hour, when I stopped it. The Chromecast has a fair bit more info in the stats for nerds overlay, I don't know if there's something there that could help you...
kebarriere 0 Posted August 16, 2023 Author Posted August 16, 2023 So, a bit more background: I replaced my main TV a few months back by an LG B2. Before that, we had a Chromecast 4K plugged into a Sony 4K TV. Everything worked perfectly then. When I got the B2, there was a weird color issue with the Chromecast, it was unusable on this TV. So I ditched it and installed the Emby for LG TV app. Now I just tested already-watched episodes of HotD and The Last of Us. I know they worked on the Chromecast because we finished both series on it with the old TV. I tried 3 episodes and all of them stopped playing eventually (a few seconds to minutes in). Here's a screen capture and logs of the last episode I tried playing. In the log file, one of the last lines before the "ExtraData" is "[q] command received. Exiting." Does that tell you something? The Emby LG app is just giving you the presentation. Normally if the LG player has trouble with a file, it will signal an error and the Emby app will automatically switch to transcoding just to keep things playing. But there are also cases where it doesn't signal an error and just gets stuck, and this is difficult for our app to recover from when it's not getting notified. Is it just this one file? If not, try with lower bitrate content and see if you can reproduce with that. It's possible the network connection on the TV just couldn't keep up, or that the video bitrate is just too high for the TV.
