Ayush_92 0 Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 (edited) I have installed 4.7.13 and 4.7.12 one by one but not able to run emby-server.How can I run it? Edited July 27, 2023 by Ayush_92
richt 94 Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 (edited) The systemctl command shows that emby-server is active (running), so it is at least starting up. Can you access the web page with http://localhost:8096? The first screen seems to show a database problem. What do the Emby logs show? Edited July 27, 2023 by richt 1
Q-Droid 989 Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 You will likely have problems if you install a lower release after running a newer release - Can't go down in version. Same for installing a stable release after having run beta unless the stable is a higher version - end of beta cycle.
Luke 42077 Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 Hi, it looks like you downgraded from the 4.8 beta. If you do that you'll need to make a fresh install of 4.7. Why did you do that?
Ayush_92 0 Posted July 28, 2023 Author Posted July 28, 2023 @LukeNo,I did not try 4.8 beta at all.I have first installed 4.7.13 emby-server ,emby-server was active (running) for a second ,not able to access web app, unistalled it and them same repeat for 4.7.12. @Q-DroidI have first installed 4.7.13 emby-server ,emby-server was active (running) for a second ,not able to access web app, unistalled it @richtNO,I cannot able to access web page.Server inactive in a second after manually starting it. Yes,I caught same error of sql.I am sharing logs. embyserver-63826143489.txt
richt 94 Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 @Lukeor someone else my provide a better answer, but to me it looks like the authentication.db is either non-existent or corrupt. IF this truly is your FIRST install of Emby OR you have NO data in the old install that you still want, you can uninstall emby completely, delete the data folders and then reinstall. IF you have old data in EMBY you want to retain, ignore this post and wait for someone else to provide a better solution. 1
Luke 42077 Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 Hi, yes if this is a fresh install, then i would try the above, and make sure to delete this folder as well: /var/lib/emby Let us know how you get on. Thanks. 1
Ayush_92 0 Posted July 31, 2023 Author Posted July 31, 2023 @LukeThis time also same process happened but there was no sql error.I am attaching logs and screenshot. embyserver-63826396348.txt embyserver-63826396484.txt embyserver-63826396539.txt
richt 94 Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Afraid I won't be of much more help, but I do have two comments. First it appears you are running an older version of Ubuntu (Ubuntu 5.4.0-6ubuntu1~16.04.12)). Not sure if that could be a contributing factor, but is worth noting as it is an older version. Second, make sure you have enough free space on your partition. 1

If so, what folder, and how did you do it? Can you install 4.7.13? 1
Ayush_92 0 Posted August 2, 2023 Author Posted August 2, 2023 (edited) I deleted using rm -rf and apt purge emby-server command. Also, I installed 4.7.13 version and below are screenshots.Only systemctl restart command can do active status but after a second goes inactive as I told you initially. Luke 42077 Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Can you provide all of the log files that were generated by that fresh install attempt? Thanks.

Luke 42077 Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Were you ever able to run the server and you're saying this just started happening? Or have you never been able to run it? Are you able to update Ubuntu?
Ayush_92 0 Posted August 7, 2023 Author Posted August 7, 2023 No,The server has never started at any time.I want to build server on ubuntu 16.04 only.
Q-Droid 989 Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Support for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS ended in 2021 also ending software updates and security patches. If you go on ESM you can still receive updates to 16.04 though there's no guarantee updates will fix your issue and may still need to upgrade the OS for Emby to work. You could also try the Docker container though you might also be stuck with an older Docker runtime and have other problems.
Ayush_92 0 Posted August 7, 2023 Author Posted August 7, 2023 Which minimum version of ubuntu does it support?
Q-Droid 989 Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 The devs might know the lowest supported release and/or the reason for the segmentation fault.
alucryd 315 Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 We only support the current supported releases, that would be either 20.04 LTS or 22.04 at the time of writing. Other versions might work fine but we can't make any promise. 1
Ayush_92 0 Posted August 8, 2023 Author Posted August 8, 2023 Actually,i want to customize emby for in-train infotainment system. Is it fruitful to customize emby for this purpose?
