david@teamzona.us 0 Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 When I first setup Emby Premiere on my Windows Server connected to my SAN solution several years ago to hold my entire media collection (2 TB) and share it across my household part of the intent was to always have content available even when my internet connection is broken (i.e. no Netflix etc). At my last internet outage which lasted about 24 hours due to some bad weather I realized that Emby will no longer function without an internet connection presumably because it can't validate my Emby Premiere License? I am not sure when this behavior changed. Can someone confirm that this is the way this works and if so then is there some kind of way around this?

Basically yes, if your server can't validate license it'll run on cache (up to max. three weeks, more or less); ditto for client apps: some will work for some time, some will outright refuse to start and/or connect; Browser are your safest bet, as Web app will work under any circumstance: no internet, intermittent internet.
david@teamzona.us 0 Posted July 25, 2023 Author Posted July 25, 2023 I don't understand the browser answer, I use the Emby App on my XBoxes to access my Emby server but I can't if there is no internet connection. Are you saying that it might be cached for a while and in the case of a one day outage, it should work?

Thanks for the feedback.
david@teamzona.us 0 Posted August 25, 2023 Author Posted August 25, 2023 That would be great, I've had Emby Premiere for 7 years and don't want to give it up but I don't want to have to maintain two solutions, one for online and one for offline access. It seems like you could cache the license for several days in the event of a loss of connection to your license servers.
pwhodges 2012 Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 It's already cached for a week, supposedly. Paul
