TestingAppsOut 1 Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Hello, I've been struggling to get my Emby server to be connectable from any client for the past two days. The clients I'm using are Android TV and then in the browser on a smartphone. I couldn't connect last night, could connect this afternoon, and its back to not working now. Things I've tried: 1. Disable firewall entirely 2. Close VPN application entirely (VPN is not connected) 3. Reboot computer 4. Reconnect to Wi-Fi Are there any logs I could look at that might help me? I had some hope it was just a bad patch from the antivirus when it starting working again this afternoon, but now I'm back to square 1.
Luke 42083 Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Hi, what exactly happens when you try to connect?

TestingAppsOut 1 Posted July 24, 2023 Author Posted July 24, 2023 So giving a little update which I'll mark as the solution in a day or two when I have time to do an ABA test - the problem appears to be with a firmware update on my Ubiquiti switch. Problems started with the 6.5.59 update which rolled out to my switch 4 hours after my last successful Emby usage. I rolled back tonight and it popped right up. 1
TestingAppsOut 1 Posted July 31, 2023 Author Posted July 31, 2023 Update - It doesn't appear to be the version of the switch firmware. After a week of using the old firmware the same situation happened - no connectivity outside of the host machine. I upgraded back to the latest & greatest firmware and it came back. My new leading thoughts are either the IPS/IDS systems are getting triggered after some time of using Emby on the local network, or maybe the memory on my UDM Pro has a leak and needs an occasional reboot to free it. I'm leaning towards the latter because I haven't been monitoring the load on my UDM Pro carefully, and the logs didn't show Emby triggering IPS/IDS as far as I can tell.
visproduction 316 Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Use a private (incognito) browser window if you are going to an IP address. Otherwise, the mobile browser will try to use a search engine for the IP address and that comes up as no such IP address is listed inside the search engine.
