Hispanico957 23 Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 I have an Emby Server on my QNAP and some of my friends outside my network even if connected through a 1000 Mbps fiber fixed line, complain about a slowness in scrolling through movies or appearing posters. How can I try to make the most of my server? Thank Hispa
ebr 16187 Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 Hi. What is the upload speed of your internet connection where the server is?

Depending on how much system RAM your QNAP has, you can try increasing your cache size to squeeze some more performance from your server (eg. noticeably faster loading times, etc) See this guide:

rbjtech 5284 Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 (edited) A debug log of the requests will show the network latency - you clearly have enough upload bandwidth, but that doesn't mean every step of the network path is fast. Could be connection buffers in the router, could be DNS, could be a poor congested ISP backhaul meaning packets to other providers are slow or are getting dropped. Edited July 21, 2023 by rbjtech

Potrebbe essere un buffer di connessione nel router, potrebbe essere DNS, potrebbe essere un backhaul ISP scarsamente congestionato, il che significa che i pacchetti verso altri provider sono lenti o vengono eliminati. How can I create this debug log and then post it here so you can tell me where could be the problem? Hispa

Hispa Turn on debug logging on emby - then post the emby log of a 'problem' playback session. The log will just show the latency of http request vs response - it will not tell you why. You'll need some network tools and experience to analyse that - not something you can easily do remotely I'm afraid but at least it will give you a clue as to the reason.
