This apparently just started, but I have added 3-4 new tv shows and I have checked tvdb and they show all their upcoming episodes but they are not showing up in my upcoming list in EMBY. I have rescanned and double checked that the libraries have tvdb checked as a fetcher. Not sure what else to do.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi there, try refreshing the metadata on one of these series and see if that helps. Also make sure tvdb is the highest priority fetcher. If there's still an issue:

Thanks.

So here's your answer:

2023-07-20 00:07:40.699 Error HttpClient: Connection to https://api4.thetvdb.com/v4/series/75219/episodes/official?page=0 timed out

All of your communications to tvdb are timing and failing.

I also see similar things with moviedb, albeit different error message:

2023-07-20 07:07:53.884 Error HttpClient: Error getting response from https://api.themoviedb.org/3/tv/114472/season/1/episode/5?api_key=โ€Œf6bd687ffa63cd282b6ff2c6877f2669โ€Œ&append_to_response=images,external_ids,credits,videos&language=en&include_image_language=en,null

So something is blocking your outgoing connections. Typical causes of this are firewall, security software or VPN. Please look into these and let us know what you find. Thanks.

No outgoing connections are being blocked, outgoing on my firewall is open. I am directly accesssing themoviedb.org via my internal program with no problem. I have stopped using TVDb since they went to subscription etc. but I don't see how that should affect EMBY. Can you give me dates on the blocks from the logs?

This just started happening and I am not sure why...ย

Any help appreciated.

Again,ย Typical causes of this are firewall, security software or VPN.

I am at a loss, this just started happening, I have made no changes to the system, I am only running Windows Defender, the windows firewall is dropped since I have a hardware firewall (no changes there either), no VPN and stopping Defender didn't fix it.

The error says canceled due to the configured HtttpClient... isn't this part of the EMBY config?

At one point I was a TVDb subscriber and was using their API (this was several months ago) could they be blocking my IP now that my subscription has ended??ย

Not sure where else to look, this has worked for many years and now just stopped!

I just noticed the time stamp on that error, my internet was down at that time.. (2am to 8am) are there others from other days and times?ย

copy and paste the http request from the log into your browser on the emby machine itself.

for example -

https://api4.thetvdb.com/v4/series/75219/episodes/official?page=0

I getย

{"message":"Unauthorized"}

But it's a response, prooving connectivity is ok.

The log file is just a text file - search it using any text editor, or directly using 'Find' (CTRL F) in the emby log viewer.

rbjtech - I've done that and I also get unauthorized. So the lights are on but nobody's home...

ย

LOL.. I have no clue what is going on, but I just now did another refresh and VIOLA! it's working... go figger... I just noticed something else.. Nfo Metadata updated to 1.0.75 just aย  bit ago...

Somebody is messing with me... ๐Ÿ™‚ย

Just an FYI.. I stopped EMBY, cleaned up the log files and rebooted (again). Ran another scan and the log files are clean, no runs no hits no errors ๐Ÿ™‚ย

Thanks for your help, although I have no idea what caused it or fixed it, just started up a week or so ago and then just stopped!

Ok, apologies first, I don't like not knowing what caused the problem.. I can be like a dog with a bone.. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have aTMDb access token that I use, in the EMBY log it shows that TMDb was erroring out... but my access token has ALWAYS worked... ?? Only time I have ever gotten an error is when my internet was down.

So.. why would mine work and EMBY's not? In the logs I saw that it stated "MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: Cancelling connection to https://api4.thetvdb.com/v4/series/72073/episodes/official?page=0 due to a previous timeout" Previous timeout?? huh? Why didn't it try again?

I don't know your code or how you handle this, but it stuck out..

Is it possible that it go hung up on that single timeout (or maybe multiple priors due to my Internet being down) and just decided to choke?ย

Rebooting, disableing security, firewalls (including my hardware firewall) and any unrelated thing I could think of didn't fix it.. but all of a sudden it just started working again..

Any ideas?? ๐Ÿ™‚ย

As this is specific to your environment i can't really answer, but usually this means something is blocking the emby server process from sending out those network requests.
