AP123 13 Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Hey all, So I have a few family members I share remote access with. Every now and then someone will leave a video playing in their browser or somewhere else. No big deal. I usually just kill the remote connections, either to that specific user or to all users, reload, and then reenable connections. This tends to cut off the video stream and remove it from "currently playing" when I go to my settings. However, that isn't working. I have a user who has left a video on pause for over a day now and no matter what I do I can't get the video to remove from the currently playing when I go into my settings. Any help would be appreciated.

Luke 42080 Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Hi, what exactly do you mean by killing a connection?

Stopping the remote connection for either that specific user or all users. Usually this immediately ends all current playback. However, it is not working. I have one playback I cannot terminate or remove from my server.

I've gone back and looked at the current playback that is paused and it seems as if the user is using Emby for iOS. So this seems to be playback in the emby app as opposed to in a browser. Would terminating their remote connection not end the playback if it's in the app?
Luke 42080 Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 What do you mean by stopping the remote connection? How?

Luke 42080 Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 Ok that was never really designed to be an abrupt termination of playback. The player could have some data cached and could be playing off of that until it runs out and then it had to go back to the server. And even then, the player won’t be aware of what you did so what you’re probably going to see is a lot of retries and error messages.

Apart from asking this person directly to stop the playback, which has been at the same timestamp for 2 days now, how can I remove this from “now playing?” In the past, all I've ever had to do was block the remote connection and it would immediately end the playback and remove it from "now playing." jellis413 4 Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 I have always just hit the stop button (square) at the bottom of that screenshot and it has always worked for me on multiple client apps

I'm not familiar with the information contained in the logs, as I'm not that technical. I don't want to post any log info that may potentially be private, but I've included a screenshot of the log portion that pertains to me trying to stop the playback.

Luke 42080 Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 @AP123are you still having an issue with this? Are you able to try the 4.8 beta server?

I haven’t had an instance where this situation has arisen for some time. The next time someone using my server leaves it running I will try to replicate this, but I haven’t had the opportunity for some time. 1
