Using shield tv as emby server and local playback

Is there any reason why I couldn't set up a shield tv tube version with emby server on it and libraries stored on a micro sd card.  Playback would be only on the shield tv and I wouldn't require any transcoding. 

I know the high bit rate limitations with the tube version, but are there any other limitations such data throughput using an ad card. 

Since I mention the high bit rate limitation with tube version - has this been resolved, since I've not had any issues recently with playing quite high nit rate files.

Whether it will perform well I’m not sure, but yes it can run the software.
