Finally got around to looking at this - and found a solution

If you use a back slash instead of a forward slash, emby accepts this and it gets passed as the correct url.

For me - this is primary use case for MDB.  I don't use MDB 'Collections' at all.

What it does is allow you to add external links like this, to people, movies, tv shows, episodes, albums (including audiobooks) , artists and games

!!! For security reasns please bear in mind that external links can be hijacked, malicious code injected etc so please verify your sources before adding them to your server !!!!

 

It has some custom fields too so you can create your own links

Its is no where near finished, there is still a lot to do, its jsut posted here for testing for now.

Fixed typo is Custom Id 3 of Artists

Added Generic Youtube url to artists (so now can either add channel or generic youtube url - youtube.com/{0})

Added Amazon to Albums and Artists

copy the dll to your programdata/plugins folder and restart the emby server process.

Thank you. Sorry for the follow up question since it does not relate to the topic but, on the new DSM on synology the emby program data is is under the root folder and is not accessible. I have been searching all over the internet but all discussions leads to  older dsm where emby appdata was not in root directory.
Could you please help me/point me to any instructions on how to access root directory/copy to root directory?

Is there a way to get this to automatically copy TMDB ID to Letterboxd ID for newly-added items? There's a button to do it in the settings, but do I need to keep going back in and pressing that button periodically, or remembering to manually add the ID to everything? There doesn't seem to be a scheduled task I can set up.

not in the plugin at the moment, but yes there are ways that can be added.

I can do both ideas you presented.

I can add on newly added items if i can read the value from the filename (this would add a metadata reader to the library config:  This would be like the nfo reader, but simply read the filename (or whatever else you wanted to be scanned) and update the provider key,
and  i can add a scheduled task to pick up items that never had it in the fiilename, but it was added to the emby db after the core added metadata.

I am too busy at the moment to do this but yes i can, and probably will now that it is wanted.. just bare with me  

This plugin as you may have read in this thread was never intended to be public but was made so because someone asked me about it in the developer api section when i was making it, so its not "polished" because for my system i dont care as long as it works..... It does appear though that slowly more and more people are using it when they realise what it actually does.

This is also most useful for me, for setting up "Related Artists" music collections in Emby - it works very nicely for linking directly to the MusicBrainz Artist Relationships menu tab, for immediate cross-referencing, e.g.:

Now, just have to apply this method to 100s of collections...

Anyway, perhaps this example may also be useful for others  - now or in the future... Cheers!

Honest answer, I have done nothing on this, clean forgotten about it.  My bad! 

This is a plugin I want to rewrite (when I get to it)

I want to improve it, I have many ideas.  Just not got to it yet.

I have dozens of unfinished plugins to complete
