Hi there, my current set up running xpenology on i3 6100 on consumer board with 16gb non ecc ram... Emby installed on it.

I'm planning to buy a used xeon board and install truenas into it(with ecc support), then reused my i3 6100 as standalone emby server...i would like to go windows route for server instead of linux can u guys recommend which windows version should i go with?? Like normal windows 7/10, pro or home or server edition...

I would avoid Windows 7 and would go with Windows 10 as a minimum, ideally Windows 11.

If you need Remote Desktop - then go with Pro, if not then home edition is perfectly good enough.

@rbjtechthanks for ur response, what's ur opinion about server editions?? Any advantage over pro edition?? Like memory management or something like this?? As I'm going to use 16gb on emby standalone, you think it would be enough?? I'm familiar with windows, that's y going with it, but no issue learning on linux as i used few distros before

The Server versions will offer no direct benefit for Emby at all, but it may use the ECC differently, tbh I'm not 100% sure myself.. 🤔   I use Pro Editions as I use headless 'servers' and manage them all via RDP - I also run Hyper-V for VM's (available in the Pro edition)

16Gb is the sweet spot for Windows 10/11 generally but Emby itself only uses about 0.5 - 1Gb.

Thanks @rbjtechI'll go with consumer edition Windows 11 pro then as I also would setup on headless server... Btw it's not ECC for emby server, i planned ecc for truenas only... Thanks for ur suggestion
