Android OS TV - identifying NAS but not connecting

Hi All.

Very basic user here, so appreciate any and all help!

I have a home network with a NAS w/Emby that has been connecting and running smoothly - Emby is on my server, can connect via my android phone and smart TVs.

Recently bought a new Phillips Android OS TV, installed emby, and having issues connecting. When I go on the App, the only thing that appears are four fields under "Other Options"

The NAS is actually showing up under the "Switch Server" field on the App, but clicking on it does nothing. It takes me back to the main menu, Trying to connect by manually adding the IP address and Port (which works on my phone, and the details are valid), similarly, takes me back to the main page which just shows the four options.

I've tried wired connection and wireless. Doesn't seem to have an impact. Phone log in and PC log in still absolutely fine,

First thing to try is to delete the App from the TV, delete the App cache as well - and do a full TV restart (power off and on again).

Reinstall the App from the Store (AndroidTV) and assuming the TV is on the same wlan or lan as the emby server - then it 'should' get discovered.

I presume all other services on the TV are ok ?

Can you 'ping' the TV from a PC or the Emby 'server' ?

Hi. Thanks for the response. I deleted App, cleared cache, and reinstalled. Didnt change anything. The server *is* being discovered - it shows up under the 'Switch Server' option and when I click it, nothing happens.

All other services on the TV are fine. Connectivity seems fine. Etc

The TV is showing up under the home private network via my computer

Ok - I set my laptop as an Emby media server, the TV also recognised it and I was able to connect. The difference is that the TV asked my to select a user and then enter a password for the laptop. It doesn't for the NAS server.

In the past, I've never had to do this when connecting the previous TV or phone to the NAS emby server. I dont think a username/password is actually set up. Looking at the emby application in the NAS, there's no field to do this - simply asks me to input a username/password

Hi, if the Emby app on the TV is asking you for a password, then it's not a password for the laptop, it's a password for the user on your Emby Server.

And yes, you did setup a password for it during the server startup wizard because it won't let you proceed without one. Can you enter that?

ok - so all this suggests the 'connectivity' to the TV and Emby Server is pefectly fine - it's just it now needs a password.

This recently may have changed with the latest emby server updates.

The best thing to do is to login to the Emby Server via a web browser - and either setup a test user, or reset the password on the existing user (if you don't know it) and then connect from the TV using those credentials.  Once logged in (on the TV), don't forget to set the login method (remember me, remember last user etc etc).
