acnp77 67 Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 Hi I would very much like to share my emby-library with family and friends, but some bugs that have been around for a very very long time do not allow me to share, at least not in a reasonable way: 1. Camera uploads can not be disabled for my users. 2. The "playlist" feature is not "per user" as it should be, but is displayed as a library. And even if I disable the playlists for a user, the user still has access to it via the left-side menu. The user can also create a playlist that will show in my playlist library, and can also delete my playlists. This behavior is not acceptable in my opinion. 3. The "collection" feature can also not be disabled for the users. These 3 issues are the reason I do not share my library, even though I would like to. Are there any intensions of correcting these issues? I can not imagine that I am the only one with these concerns. Please help me understand why these well know issues are not being addressed for years now. It would give Emby much more value if corrected. Thanks,
Luke 42083 Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 HI, more control over #1 is planned for future updates. In the upcoming 4.8 server release, playlists will be private for each user. Collections are metadata of a movie just like genres are. When all of the content of a collection is hidden from a user, then they will not be able to see that collection at all.
acnp77 67 Posted July 11, 2023 Author Posted July 11, 2023 (edited) @LukeHi, thanks for your reply. #1: With all respect, you have been saying this for years now. This needs to be addressed please. Even if it's "only" for security reasons. #2: This sounds great, thanks a lot! I look forward to it #3: I did not express myself correctly, of course users can see content of collections if they have access to the content. I was under the impression that they can manipulate (add items to, delete items, etc.) my collections. But as I see this is not the case. My bad, sorry. Can you confirm that a user (not admin) can not change the collections, but only access them, if the content is made available to them, just like with any other type of metadata? - Thanks Then we are left with only one problem - The cam upload CHEERS Edited July 11, 2023 by acnp77

acnp77 67 Posted July 11, 2023 Author Posted July 11, 2023 Thanks a lot for your clarification, Luke. So the only issue is the cam uploads - please do not forget about them. As there are enough other threads about this, I can mark mine as resolved. Cheers 1

Is this still valid? - I did not see anything in the release notes. When is 4.8 planned to be stable version? Thanks.
