Skorrael 3 Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 Hi all, Sorry if this question was already asked, I tried to found but not able to find anything. I'm new with Emby (2-3 weeks) but really like it. But I discovered an issue where the sound is only send to my amplifier Marantz in PCM format. Let me summarize my installation: - Emby server is installed on a docker on my Synology NAS DS1821+ - Emby for Android TV is installed on a Zappiti Player 4K HDR - Amplifier is a Marantz SR-7011 - TV Samsung 65" 4K HDR - Beamer ViewSonic (but we don't care lol) So, I discovered yesterday that all movies I launched or TV shows are received to my amplifier only with PCM format even if they are EAC5.1, DTS, Atmos or whatever. Of course my amplifier can receive any format, no problem for him. When I use the Zappiti app, no issues, the amplifier is receiving an Atmos signal or DD or DTS, everything is ok. When I do the same with Emby, eveything is with a PCM signal, which is a pity Any idea or recommendations please because I'm a little lost and disapointed that I cannot used Emby with a nice audio sound. Thanks in advance for your help

Neminem 1518 Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 I think you need to look at Emby app settings for audio, try and set them to passthrough.

GrimReaper 4739 Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 (edited) Does your Zappiti player (not Emby AndroidTV client app) has any audio passthrough system settings? Also, what are your Audio Output settings under Settings>Playback tab in Emby client app settings (cog wheel top-right on the Home Screen)? Can you provide ffmpeg log created for one of those remuxes/transcodes where you're getting PCM only? Edited July 10, 2023 by GrimReaper
Skorrael 3 Posted July 10, 2023 Author Posted July 10, 2023 Yes, the Zappiti Player is configure with audio passthrough as with the Zappiti application, no issue to have my movies with Dolby, Dolby Atmos or DTS, DTX:X. I don't have settings regarding audio output under Settings/Playback, what is strange no? How to generate the ffmpeg log file? Thanks for your help

Yes, as it means app's not getting reported any capabilities. Which AndroidTV client app version you're running? Also, can you try sideloading standard Android app and see how does that compare? Emby for Android - Emby 21 minutes ago, Skorrael said: How to generate the ffmpeg log file? It should be generated automatically if server remuxes/transcodes, you can find (and download) it under server Settings>sidebar Advanced section>Logs tab in your Web UI.
Skorrael 3 Posted July 10, 2023 Author Posted July 10, 2023 I will have a look when I will be at home, thanks again GrimReaper I let you know. 1

I'm running Emby 4.7.13 on my Zappiti Player and when I install the standard Android app, it didn't work, I have the logo Emby at the statup but looks to be blocked. Maybe Android version is too old on the Zappiti hardware. I tested Emby for Android TV on my internet tv box provided by my internet provider and now, I can read movies with Dolby Digital but not DTS, I suspect the box. So, which hardware you recommand to read all audio format? A Nvidia Shield? Can we play 3D moves with a Nvidia Shield? Thanks again for your help

AndroidTV client app version will be denoted at bottom right corner once you enter app settings, it'll likely be something like 2.0.xx? 27 minutes ago, Skorrael said: I install the standard Android app, it didn't work, I have the logo Emby at the statup but looks to be blocked. Maybe Android version is too old on the Zappiti hardware. Considering that standard app is updated almost on daily basis, that is highly unlikely. How long you've stayed at logo screen, give it a minute or two to timeout and present you with Select Server screen (if you haven't). 27 minutes ago, Skorrael said: which hardware you recommand to read all audio format? Shield Pro is a go-to device for a lot of enthusiasts around here (myself included), IMHO you can't go wrong picking one up. 27 minutes ago, Skorrael said: Can we play 3D moves with a Nvidia Shield? AFAIK yes - not that I've ever tested it, though. Some fellow user with practical experience might shed some light on that one. Edited July 10, 2023 by GrimReaper
Skorrael 3 Posted July 11, 2023 Author Posted July 11, 2023 Hello GrimReaper, To solve my problem, I purchased a Nvidia Shield TV Pro and everythings is now ok, I can have DD, DTS or Atmos, no issues I just need to test with 3D movies but except that, everything is going well, thank you again for your help 2
