Painkiller88 250 Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Hi, When deleting a movie, in emby or directly from the file system, there still seems to stay something from this movie in the local database. If i re add a deleted movie (even after half a year) it has exactly the same resume point where i stopped and deleted the movie. The reason why i ask is, i have a few movies where i have a theme.mp3 or theme.mp4 file and it is not playing this file. The solution is to rename the movie, so it seems to get a new ID, and only after that, it is playing the theme file correctly. Is there a better way to really remove all relations to a deleted movie in the database? or a way to give an item an new id without the need of deleting it? Thanks
Luke 42083 Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 HI, after deleting the file, a normal library scan will clean it out of the database. If this isn't happening, then let's look at a specific example. By that I mean new examples, not ones that occurred in the past. Can you get it to happen again with new content?
Painkiller88 250 Posted July 10, 2023 Author Posted July 10, 2023 Yes i am able to reproduce it with new added content. I tested it with a movie i added yesterday. Server OS: Win 10 Server Version: 4.7.13.0 Removed Movie: Dark Stone. Info: the new added movie also gets the same added date from yesterday in the metadata infos Steps: 1. Jump in the middle of a movie so you have the resume marker 2. Delete the movie and do a library scan. -> Result movie is gone in emby 3. Re-Add the movie and do anohter scan -> Result movie is back with the same resume marker Serverlog added. You can see the movie name and new added date in the last lines of the log as the youtube trailer plugin failed to download a trailer, just if you need the exact name and time for approve i re added it. Thanks embyserver.txt
pünktchen 1409 Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 The user data (playstates) is different then general library data (metadata) and won't get deleted. The user data is also tied to the items provider id, not to the items database id, that's why you get the same resume point for your re-added videos.
Painkiller88 250 Posted July 10, 2023 Author Posted July 10, 2023 So also the added date for the movie? I reported this a time ago because it is something that causes problems with theme songs or backdrops. Solution so far: if i rename the movie (folder and file) it is recorgnized as a whole new movie and starts to work. If a have a normal Full HD version and it is not working, i can add a 4k-version if available and it also starts to work So for me it seems it has something to do with the database and the movie or object ID

If so, that's where your date added is coming from. I could be wrong, but i think an existing date added value in a nfo won't get altered by a re-import, only by editing the metadata. Respectively it will be created in the nfo if it doesn't exist yet.

Yes i do. Ok so i understand this, but i still have no other way than the above mentioned to get the non playing theme songs or videos playing, so i don't know whats it about with them. Just like i said changing the name, adding a 4k file into the same existing folder with the normal file or changing the storage will solve this and i don't know why it isnt just playing them correctly

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we still preserve this by design because simply moving the location of an item is, in fact, a delete and re-add of that item and you wouldn't want to lose that user data in that instance. 1
