Yes. What are your library enabled Image Fetchers and in what order?

Enable Screen Grabber and refresh metadata on your item(s) afterwards.

Try using the toggle in the upper right to show advanced settings, then there will be a new option to prefer embedded titles over file names.

so in a update i can confirm that mp4 year in mp3tag works, however emby does not read mlv embedded tags for mkv files, any idea why this would be?

thanks

Now that you've togged the option, try refreshing the metadata on the existing mkv's in your library and see if that helps.

artwork works ok

title ok

tried different date formats, and cannot get date to work.

is it also possible to add description of video into embedded tags?

Tested. Title works just fine. There is date or year value tagged into this file, except for DATE_RECORDED, but we can't really use that to populate release year.

If you want to populate the release date or year, use the DATE field, or RETAILDATE.
